From the offices of American Honda:
In an effort to maintain and protect the Honda brand image, American Honda Motor Company (AHM) will be implementing a new internet policy as it related to the Honda Care and Acura Care Vehicle Service Contract (VSC) products. This new VSC Internet Policy will become effective April 1, 2008.
After careful consideration of the Honda National Dealer Advisory Board recommendations, AHM has determined that internet selling of Honda Care and Acura Care VSCs negatively impacts the Honda and Acura brands as well as the Honda and Acura automobile dealer network.

We didn't even bother buying it on the coupe. The finance guy was so surprised when we rejected his "offer". It's a waste of money to us. The 2 Honda's before it were just fine, so will this one. It's a Honda after all!

I got one from www.myhondawarranty.com, it saved me about 300 bucks compared the dealer in my area.

I did not waste my money on an extended warranty. My 2 previous Honda's have had no issues when the mileage hit 100k. My current Honda is at 42k and have had no issues.
Only parts to go out on my Honda's:
1992 Honda Accord LX - A/C went bad at 125k. CV joints at 130k.
2000 Honda Civic VP - A/C went bad at 120k.
Hey Brickman,
I'm with you. My last dealership experience felt very slimey! It honestly has me doubting the future purchases of Honda products.
It has been a pattern with several Honda dealerships/sales people in several states (since the late 80's).
Good car (other than minor rattles, etc) but the bad taste of the dealership has lingered.

I was offered one for about $1600 I passed based on Honda's rep. I'm having second thoughts and may buy one from one of the internet sources I've found.
These cars are complicated and even the smallest problem can cost BIG bucks. So the dealers get you coming and going.

...These cars are complicated and even the smallest problem can cost BIG bucks...
That's what they said to us in 1994, 2002 and last year. :paranoid: They really need to change their sales pitch.

we bought an extended warranty for our 00' for $1100. Absolutely nothing broke down on that car that warranted an expensive repair. We felt so ripped. When we bought the 07', the finance manager tried to sell us the extended warranty. He was even willing to lower the APR if we bought it. My wife thought about it, but just flat out said "NO."
It was even worse with the finance manager at Lexus. He tried to scare us with how expensive this or that would be if it broke down, blah, blah, blah.....
All I kept thinking was, I didn't get one for the Honda. Why the %&@# would I get one for the Lexus?! The guy was so pushy and irritating. The guy at the Honda dealership wasn't nearly as pushy.
Of course, if I had purchased ANY European car.... YOU BET YOUR SWEET @#$%$^&* I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY!

It always pissed me off the way the finance managers were told and trained how to sell the extended warranties.
Here I was, a salesman pitching to the customer how reliable and durable Hondas are, then they go into finance and the manager tries to convince them of just the opposite so they will buy an extended warranty. Friggin' retarded system they got there...yet that's how the finance managers make a paycheck (and sometimes not a very good one).

By the way, there's generally a way to avoid ALL of the sales nonsense and hassle--even the sales pitches in finance: do EVERYTHING though the dealer's internet department.
I had several customers that had everything negotiated and agreed upon to the dollar (including credit check and interest rate) before ever stepping foot in the door. The dealership agreed to have all the paperwork printed up so all that had to happen was for the customer to come in, sign a few papers, and drive away.
And a few times it even happened that way! =P

I would've stopped him and said, "Hmm...... Well, if this car's gonna be problematic and/or expensive to repair, then maybe it's not the car for us. Thank you for your time."

That warranty was well worth it on the 96 Accord.
Unless you're buying the lowest coverage, I see no reason not to if you can afford it. If you buy the one that goes 100k+ you will get something out of it, I'm sure.

We did buy the 100,000 warranty. We went through that warranty in less than four years. Like I said, nothing major happened to the 00' that made the warranty worth it.
Interesting note: In light of the supposed transmission problems with the 6th gen. Accord and 2nd gen. TL's, we got letters in the mail indicating that both our 00' Accord and 02' TL-S have been given 100,000 mile warranties. When we got those letters, the Accord already had 110,000 miles!
