I have a hard tine finding cards to start addressing in Oct!! When I'm organized, I buy them in Jan. on sale....but I haven't been too organized for the last few years...:( So the stores think I'm nuts when I'm asking before Halloween! I used to send out 265 cards each year.....I have cut back to a mere 70 or so. each one has a handwritten letter or note in it & all addressed by hand. I need extra time! So having the merchandise out early sounds good to me.....
I do get annoyed by early commercials.
I like the music......no matter how early!:)

We have a local station that has been playing Christmas music 24/7 since Nov 1st.... Kids love that station.
As far as cards we make our own and have been for about 5 years.
My 9yr old son made about 50 cards for a retirement home as part of his community service for school!!
I1:)
Here's a pic after stamping and embossing and the next is after he colored...

I made cards for a while too! It's fun! I didn't do the "stamp" method.....I drew a few designs, scanned & printed them on card paper. Then I'd highlight with metalic or/and glitter pens.
That's one of things I love about the season is the handmade things....to give & receive.
Best Xmas ever was when the kids were in elementary school. The dealer had just gone union & our income suddenly dropped by a third! We had a homemade Xmas. My prince is a wonderful crochet-er... he made the kids & their cabbage patch dolls matching hats, scarves, & slippers. He made both our moms a throw blanket & matching pillows. The hardest part was his trying to work on them without being seen!:D
The cards are great! Maybe in another couple of years I'll put the grandkids to work on projects along that line.
The oldest can also crochet, the youngest is more like me....better stick to edible goodies!:)
i dont even see the sense in advertising x-mas at all. its not like everyone is going to suddenly forget this time of year.

that's true.....the ads really aren't needed.... but they want you to buy THEIR stuff.....and watch their programs....
I've never seen all of "It's a Wonderful Life" or the old version of the one with the little girl & the Dept. store Santa... the name is slipping on me..... Both classics, but just never sat down & watched them... I have seen most Frosty & rudolph shows

we did that last year I1. It was great. everybody talked about our cards. we don't have the time this year. we got our cards the day after xmas last year and they are redy to go now.
we re putting up our xmas decorations early this year because we are going to see our friends (more like family than family) this year. usually we put them up the day after xmas.

Yesterday, my prince asked me when we're getting our tree.... We normally get it around Dec. 12th. The 11th is the birthdays & we always tried hard to keep it separate. You'd think after 30 years, he'd know when we get the tree! Males!

Men, can't live with them, can't live without them:) my dad leaves our tree up till Three Kings in January. I used to get all excited about putting up our tree when I was little, but now I never usually help decorate it cause I am always doing something else and well, the thrill is gone. I can't wait till I have kids of my own, then the spark will be back and I'll want to watch the kiddies help me and my future hubby put the tree together.:D :D

That's it.... I knew it had a street name!:D I did see a later version, just not the old one.
With my dad, if it didn't have cowboys & horses or war stuff, it wasn't one the TV! I do still like war movies.....:)
