So my 6-month old 2007 Accord with 10500 miles needs rear brakes.
First i heard the warning indicator not knowing it was the warning indicator and thought that it's because i haven't driven the car that much in the past few days.
So I pull in to the dealer and talk to my service advisor who says that its just rust from not driving and just bag up and put the weight on the rear discs to scrub off the rust. So i left, tried it...And i had a gut feeling what i was hearing was not normal so i went back and the manager tells me my pads are worn and that theyll try to see if there is an underlying problem and whatever is wrong will be covered by 3/36 warranty.
I could do nothing but laugh....i was in complete disbelief.

That's crazy. New brakes with only 10,500 miles?
Have you been hitting the tracks?

with highway driving, I am getting about 32,000miles for my rear brake pads...if you do a lot of city driving, that may be plausible that they go out at 10,500miles...

That's nuts even with 100% city driving. The original front/rear on my 56K mile 02 are nowhere near worn out, and I do about a 50/50 mix of city/hwy driving. Even my crappy old Chevy S10 went over 80K miles before needing new pads.

I havn't gotten new brakes either since i got my Honda i put 30k + miles on it in this last year....
Dont ask, This year was stressful on my car... Family heath issues, new job, moved too many times.. ect..
But no problem with the brakes, and there still very touchy, You go 1 mph and slam on the breaks the whole car shifts forward.. :lmao::lmao: i need sway bars! and a new sport type suspension... I can dream.. :naughty:

I went about 50K with the original brakes on my 2003, and i did a moderate amount of racing. Have you taken you car anywhere else to have them checked? I know that some places here in Memphis will check them for free. 10,500 seems rediculous to me, unless you are the type of person who "rides" the brakes, but your front would be worn as well if this was the case

It's my understading from taking to Honda techs 7gen Accords rear pads wear faster than the fronts. Base cars with rear drums have no issues and can get 80-100k on the rear shoes.

true, they wear faster now.....but 10k is way low!!!!
If I hadn't needed rotors resurfaced a few times, I don't think I'd be replacing brakes already & my driving is mostly city.
I'm nearing 30K now.

well I didnt bother to take the car anywhere else since it is still under warranty. They are pretty nice at my dealer and my brother knows my service advisor so even if I had to pay I'm quite sure he would have "hooked" me up. Btw I'm down here Alabama.
