I've been enjoying my 'new' '06 Accord Coupe. The traction control was nice in today's snow. The brakes like to engage abruptly, which made ABS pretty handy.
One problem, though, is the wiper on the driver's side. It doesn't contact the windshield completely at the bottom (the part closest to the shaft). I discovered the reason is a small bracket on the wiper arm between the center of the blade and the shaft at the end of the arm. It seems to hold the blade. The problem is, it holds the blade away from the windshield. If I pull the blade out of the bracket it works for a while, but eventually works itself back in and stops contacting the windshield again.
Does anyone know the purpose of this bracket and why it is keeping the bottom/inside of the wiper from touching the windshield?
Thanks!

Do you have aftermarket wiper blades or OEM wipers?
If you have aftermarket wipers, you'll need to remove that small bracket with a screw driver and your problem will be solved.
I'm not sure exactly what that piece does for the OEMs though. :dunno: With my OEMs, I never had a problem like that. I guess you can either go to the dealer for a fix or just remove it all together.

Thanks! Good advice. Once it stops snowing I'll do that!
I think it is probably meant to keep the blade aligned with the arm (keep it from trying to rotate) and maybe to ease that stress on the point where it mounts to the arm.
I've never had it on any other car and since I haven't had any problems with the wiper mount going loose on me, I can probably safely remove it.

Possibly you can remove it with no ill effects. Some years back I bought a set of Bosch Excels for my wifes 03. They didn't fit properly with the bracket there, so I removed it. The driver side Bosch never worked right. It kind of "skittered" a lot. I ended up putting back the OEM wiper (w/new insert) and bracket and all was well again. It appears that bracket does stabilize the driver's wiper quite a bit. The driver's side wiper is quite (25 - 26"?) large. You can certainly remove the bracket and see if it works ok for you. If not, I'd suggest looking for something that fits within the bracket. I'm presuming you don't have the OEM wipers any longer.

Yea, that seems to be the case (not OEM). I just bought the car and should probably demand the proper wipers, but the dealer is 70 miles away! The gas alone would pay for several sets of wipers.
It looks like I'll be visiting the local Honda dealer.
