Hey all -- it's been ages since I last posted, but I've been keeping up with the latest here on DA --
Here's the latest regarding my growing Honda family tree --
After owning a '98 LX sedan, an '02 SE sedan, and -- most recently -- an '06 EX 6MT coupe, I recently went completely out of my mind and traded in the EX for an '07 S2000.
...this amounts to a sort of Grand Experiment for me, as I've never owned a convertible before. I also reside in the Great Frozen North, so we're readying the snow tires and other equipment to see just how feasible the concept of a four-seasons S2K really is (I've only decided to do this after extensive research).
I'm a big-time believer in Honda's product...and I've been loved the S2K ever since it was introduced what seems like ages ago. I decided now was the time to get one.
So far, the S has proved to be a major thrill and a HUGE adjustment for me. After breaking it in gently (a maddening process, as you're supposed to take it easy on the F22C for what seems like ages and epochs), I now regularly VTEC the car...a process that borders on life-changing. The combination of high-specific-output engine, sweet shifter, and taut chassis is nothing short of astonishing...especially when experienced top-down. On the other hand, the main things I loved about the 6MT's interior (read: space, storage, and seat heaters) and drive (relaxed highway cruising) are, well, things I now miss very much.
Without getting too windy here -- I miss my 6MT (mainly on long highway drives when the weather is inclement), but I really love the S2.
For those who haven't yet driven an S2 -- you really should go out and do it; it's truly unlike any other car out there...foreign, domestic, FWD, RWD, sporty, lux-o...you name it. You'll never forget it.
Viva la 7th Gen...and rock on, DA.netters --
