Has anyone had the portion of the window that is in front of the interior brake light tinted?

A few shops that I've been to have told me that they would have to cut the tint to fit around the interior brake light area due to space constraints... If it is possible, I would prefer this area to be tinted. Figured I'd bounce it off all of you who have actually had their rear window tinted.

Also, I am specifically referring to the coupe. I'm not sure if that area is different between the coupe and sedan.

any tint shop worth anything should be able to tint behind it, or at least remove the tail light to get more room to tint it.

Do you know if they were able to do that without moving the light around?

My whole rear window is tinted also.To remove the 3rd brake light that entire upper dash would have to come out.Mine was done without doing this.

If tou have the rear spoiler, there is no reason you actually need to see the 3rd brake light.. Most "good" tinters have to right tool to tuck behind the light without haveing to remove the 3rdB/L either way if they dont want to tint behind and you do have a sopile with a built in 3rd.. instist on it, or find another shop.. if theat 3rd B/L is the only one. I recommend you let them do the cut around better visibility that way remember functionality and safety over asthetic.. unless you dont mind the possibility of being rear ended.... :)

These guys just pull out the 3rd brake light. Sunshield Auto Tinting (http://www.sunshieldglasstinting.net/home.nxg).

They have 8 guys tinting 2-3 cars at a time all day long. They are in Van Nuys, CA (http://www.sunshieldglasstinting.net/home.nxg) where there are 25 car dealerships within a few miles of them.

+1 with that place, know a lot of people who are satisfied that got their tint there!

mines trimmed around the brake light. when the whole windows tinted the brake lights not as bright as the tail lights making the brightness of all your brake lights inconsistent.

Would you mind posting a pic?

i would have done that too, but with cops around here looking for any excuse to tack on a tint violation to any ticket, i wasn't going to help them out. in DE you need to have an unobstructed 3rd brake light, and most shops in the area won't put themselves out there like that.

Here's two pictured alternatives.

Picture one is a friend's car that the tinter left the 3rd light uncovered.

The second picture is mine, fully covered.
