I installed this myself today.

Did a bit of research myself (checking out floor models at dealership and looking at pics online), confirmed that only V6 models have trunk lid insulation; none of the V4s do, including EX-L.

I am in Toronto.. was going to order from College Hill, but finding out shipping charges to Canada + customs + handling fees figured that I could probably get it cheaper from my own dealer.

So I asked my dealer, Centre Honda, to look into it. They did a good job and found the lining for me. They also ordered the replacement hinge cover, latch clip, and 11 clips. I believe the Honda schematic is called "rear trunk".

Honda Canada didn't have a price for the "handle", so I did not get that. Put in another clip to hold the insulation in place there. Totally not noticeable.

Cost:
- Trunk Lid Insulator ~$31 CAD + tax
- Replacement Hinge cover ~$2.50 CAD + tax
- Centre Latch Clip ~$3.50 CAD + tax (but he didn't end up charging me for it)
- 11 Clips $3.50 CAD each MSRP, but parts guy was nice and ordered 1 to see if it's the same as the ones they have, and they were close enough. He then charged me $0.50 per clip.

Installation took about 10 min, with the college hill video as instructions. I had to cut two of the clips to make them shorter, to fit into the lowest two clip holes.

Total cost = $42 CAD

Supposedly it helps with sound isolation / reducing road noise, but I'm not expecting anything. Just thought it'd be a fun little project that doesn't require any drilling. Looks nicer. I think everyone who has a V4 08 Accord and likes to work on little projects should go get it put in.

Just go put some in silly! :lmao:

It doesn't have a noticeable effect, and I don't think it is intended for sound deadening at all. Looks nice though.

That was more an example than anything else, just how the six has those little things that are left off of the 4. Like passanger's side power seat.

I like my 4 alot and with 95% in town driving the 6 was excessive, it just makes me wonder why they do not put something so trivial in the 6 and not the 4.

It's an inline four cylinder engine, not a V4.

It's decisions like this that Honda makes that ultimately made me look outside their products for our 2 current mom and dad vehicles. Many times if you wanted feature "A" you had to buy trim level "X", and in many cases some of the features that everyone else had you couldn't get in a Honda unless you bumped up to Acura. My pet peeve earlier this decade was that Honda wouldn't put ABS into their DX or LX variants of vehicles. I know when we bought our son's civic in '04, he didn't NEED an EX - but he DID need ABS, and then you could only get ABS in an EX......

Trunk padding - such a luxury.

Good job Heirovince,
Would you mind listing the oem parts #s...I would like to order all parts needed thru my Honda Canada dealer too.
Thanks

Just another confirming note per the trunk insulator. The College Hills video shows exactly how to do it even for a novice. Less than 10 minutes and it was in. May not help with the sound but does clean up the look the of the lid when its open.

I agree...I don't understand why honda leaves little things like that out if you purchase an I4 EXL. I purchased the V6's trunk lip spoiler only to find out that it didn't have instructions & discovered that I'd have to drill numerous holes. Solved that by buying a roll of 3m molding tape & stuck it on. So far so good.

Does it actually helps? I recently notice the I4 doesn't get the trunk insulation for gen7!
I do see the EX-L civic get both the hood & trunk. Lowest model doesn't even have any...
Also, College hill sells hood insulation for gen8!

Wow, the 8th gen retained the same old school trunk hinges? I'm surprised, our trunks really need the scissor hinged type.

No, they do not. Only some models, I believe the EX-V6 did. DX, LX and DX have no liner.
