Today is my Prince & our youngest daughter's birthday!

I got him a 12" laser guided compound miter table saw& a stand that folds. We gave her 2 cell phones with service added to our's. Tonight Jacob will get my supervision while he makes "impanadas" for dinner & a triple choc. cake.

He used HATE his birthday when we met. It was just a day of heartache as a kid. His parents usually forgot. He's one of 8 kids & the only Dec. one.....Xmas got the priority.

I've done a lot of work to undo the damage & have succeeded! By far the BEST thing I did for him was to happen to go into labor with the final kid on HIS day! He "gave" his birthday to her, but we always made a big deal out of their day. He "took back" his birthday the year we became grandparents, claiming it was OK to get older now.

Now instead of depression on this day there's a real day of celebration!

Well, I pretty much screwed up their day!!

I had one of those days that I was high strung & felt like I was spinning & going nowhere..... I did get the cake baked & Jacob decorated it. Then I was preparing the innerds for the Imps & was told people were coming to pick up the boys ina n hours..... for some reason I went into panic mode. The innerds were too saucy (thin)....they didn't look right or something....so I'm asking where we're going to dinner since I messed it up....

I left the kitchen for a couple of minutes to try to get my brain to function. When I came back my prince & Crystle were fixing the Imps! Cooking their own birthday dinner! I felt like crying!

Finally, I just went with the flow. They were having a good time in the kitchen. So it wasn't what I'd planned....

We finished dinner just as the people arrived, so we rushed to have cake before the boys left. It ended up OK.

I kept appologizing.

It was a migraine day & I should've just admitted it & let them take over earlier! In my head doing that made me feel like a failure. They didn't care though.

Oh well, life goes on.......

i'm sure they didn't mind at all!! you didn't ruin anyone's day! :)

they had fun, don't worry about it not going off as planned! when does anything ever go 100% as planned anyway? ;)

Usually when things don't go as planned it's not the stuff in my control! They really seemed to enjoy building the Imps together though.:)
