View Full Version : Throwing cigarettes out the window...

What do you think? Is it bad for folks to throw cigarettes out the car window? Or is it okay to leave them there on the ground?

One of my "things to do before I die" is to get out of my car, pick up a butt someone has just thrown out of their window, and toss it back into their car...then drive off while they try to prevent a fire!

Probably will never happen, but I have come close a few times at very long traffic lights, where I have room to drive around the offender, and I'm pretty sure they aren't armed, and I am bigger than they are, and...and...well, I can dream, anyway.:blush:

Here, not only is it illegal littering, if you start a fire, you have to pay for it. So if your tossed butt makes a forest fire, & you're caught, you pay millions for the planes, firefighters & all! Admittedly very few get caught.

We have smokers in our friends & family....NO ONE smokes in our cars. I have 3 old coffee cans: on the front porch, in the backyard & in the garage... for butts. I get really ticked when I find butts in my yards!:mad:

They're trying to ban smoking on some of the beaches along the coast.

I honestly see more trash from cans, fastfood & diapers than butts. I find it all nasty!!
