I've got a client that manufactures after market and OEM accessories and would like to know if there's serious interest in combining our buying power and possibly purchase some custom door sills....??
Please post if ur serious. I have no idea how much $$ we're talking about and then there's the whole agreeing on a style... Wanna gauge the interest before asking my contact to work up an estimated price range for us.

Interested in Coupe sills...something sporty with a touch of class. Nothing too "blingin' " or gaudy. Accord logo only if at all possible...no brand name stamps.
Basically...no rice.

If anyone's got any art skillz and would like to start a separate thread w/ designs that we can vote on/review that'd be nice.
I agree, no rice - just simple, classy, and looking like it should be on a $40k car (eventho A's don't cost 40 large).

Interested in one for a coupe...definitely something that isn't gaudy or flashy...would be happy with a plain black one...
I'll stick with my guy and get the billet sills custom made with the design/logo/saying that I want.
For you civic guys, the son sells them as well (Celcius on 8thCivic)
http://www.yoneharaspeed.com/index.html They do really great work. I will likely also get their billet battery strap. I may ask about a one-of-a-kind engine block cover as well.
Here is one photo from my Ridgeline sills that I had chromed, that they did for me. The photo is the one I took when I was selling them

I would like to have either a plastic that matches the interior, or just plain black plastic ones. The metal ones can be scuffed and don't look as shiny over the life of the car.
FYI
I emailed College Hills Honda to see if the Australian Honda accessory door sill trim would be imported and they said they were working on it. They're also looking for something for the coupe (which is not sold in Aus).
Also, there was a seller on eBay that had chrome-looking door sills for the 8th gen sedan. Emailed him, too, asking about trim for the coupe. I took a bunch of pics and measurements for him and may play ginuea pig to size up fitment. Not sure what will become of it.
I'd been interested in a group buy.

I was thinking something like either smoked aluminum or brushed aluminum with Accord carved into it in the style it is on the back of the car. Possibly have the H on there also. Something thin. If I was an artist and had the tools I would post something, but I can't draw for anything, and I don't have the stuff to design it.
I know this isn't for Honda, but I had these on my 4Runner. I thought they were nice, but wish it was more styled like I described above.

I asked the seller if they fit the coupe and he said yes. Lying? Maybe.
Someone buy them and find out!
FYI - Two alternate possibilites...
1) There was an eBay post for brushed metal sills with the new Accord logo for the sedan. I emailed the seller and have been communicating with him. Long story short, I sent him some pics and measurements and some prototype sills for the Coupe are on their way to me. I'm going to check them for fitment. I'll click some pics and post. I'm assuming the ones available for the sedan will be similar so I'll be able to inspect the quality and vouch for the sedan's pieces.
2) I also got a message from College Hills Honda this past weekend. Their door sill products are supposed to arrive this week. If they like the quality and fitment, they should be posted on their website within the next week or two.

*** Update ***
Client contacted me today and said he'd like to make an impression of my sill using some type of clay that is used in their business. After the impression is reviewed and the most economical manufacturing technique is determined, his corporation will decide if they want to "play" in the aftermarket door sill game.
His statement was that the overseas manufacts will kick his a** on price and that his comp only builds top-notch, high-quality accessories so if they opt to produce, get ready to pay..
I'll keep ya posted.

Thanks
I received a set of prototype door sills for my coupe.
I have more posted on my website:
http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3043791/2
"The 2008 Accords don't come from the factory with door sills. Someone on eBay made some prototypes for me to try. Here are some initial shots. They fit pretty well and have a nice finish. The finish is a brushed aluminum look that matches some of the dash trim. The slim rubber border adds a nice refined detail and ties the sill in with the weather stripping - makes it look like a factory piece. The sills are somewhat thin and they were slightly bent a bit during shipping but it wasn't anything that I wasn't able to bend out. I'll advise him to use a stiffer shipping container for future shipments. They attach with two way adhesive tape which I didn't try yet.
If the price is right, IMO they're not bad. Sitting on the door sill they look OEM and very solid. They look good and they'll do the job well enough - prevent scuffing of the paint. The sill's long term durability remains to be seen."
Let me know what you think. He hasn't set a price yet.
Also, College Hills Honda hasn't gotten back to me with their offering yet.

Trip - they look very well made and near OEM. My only concern is that they don't extend far enough down to the second "step" which is where scuffing seems to occur on my car. I had the clear 3M mask material applied to my coupe and had it taken down to the last "riser". Doubt that would work with this type of metal sill. I'll be interested in other opinions.

If it did extend over the 2nd lip I think it would start interfering with the door (?).

Was checking College Hills website today and they have a new podcast showing some CRV and 08 Accord stuff including:
Door Sills  they actually show 2 types.
One is lighted (these appear to be the same ones that are on EBay) I like these since they do a good job of covering the sill but I don't need them lighted. Guess you could just cut the cord off or just install them lighted. Curious what i would look like. Hopefully they'll have one installed soon.
The other is just a silver / chrome door sill that you peel and stick. I had high hopes for this one but it's only a half sill protector. :headbash::( It only does the first few inches and doesn't continue down to the second step on the sill. It may give it a bit of bling but imho it doesn't do much to protect them. :dunno:
They also showed a new grill that has some appeal but I'm not sure I like the style may have to let it sink in first.
Mudguards but not just any mud guards but color painted! This irritated me since I just bought a set of OEM blace ones and installed them on my car, I am not going to spend the extra dough to have them color matched especially since I've got a PMM and the black goes just fine with it. But if you have Silver then it might be a nice option.
Headlight protecters that velcro and clip one. Pretty much a clear duplicate of the plastic headlight shell that goes on top of the headlight to protect it from rocks. I guess it would be helpful if I ever cracked a headlight but not sure of it's real usefulness?
I think that's about all they showed for the Accord.

I just looked on college hills honda's website and I didn't see any of this stuff for the accord. Am I missing something :dunno: I looked under both the coupe and sedan and this stuff wasn't under either of them

Glad you caught that. I did say podcast but it really wasn't super clear. It appears they actually don't have anything in stock but just wanted to get the shipment in so they could test fit and if they where happy they'd order them for sale.

43 bucks for shipping? Are they nuts? I'll wait till someone in the good ol US of A makes them......
The photo is the one I took when I was selling them
http://i136.photobucket.com/albums/q178/keith_757/2006%20Honda%20Ridgeline%20RTS/P2299191.jpg
Here is what the guy I'll be buying from wrote back to me tonight.
Hi Keith, We are currently machining pre-production 08 Accord 2 & 4-door blanks in conjunction with our Civic line. What would the Accord crowd want regarding an engraving. The Accord Euro R logo looks really kewl as does the Inspire logo in addition to the standard Accord V6 logo.
So what do you all like/want for standard sills? What we collectively want will be what he will make as his standard sills. Throw some ideas/designs out there. I sent him the link to this thread, so he will be reading this
Remember, you can always get your sills custom made to the design you want.
If battery straps are desired, he will mass produce them as he does for the Civic http://www.yoneharaspeed.com/index.html . I'm sure he'll make custom engine block covers, but I imagine that it will be costly.

Also, any other designs desired in the open space away from the lettering? (bar, arrows, etc.)

So far my prototypes are holding up very well. The actual production ones are a bit thicker and the embossing is a bit deeper, too. The adhesive has not come undone even with 90 degree temps, humidity or the sills being soaked from torrential downpours. I have hit them with my feet a few times and so far no damage. We'll see how they are at the end of the summer.
I talked with him and he did lower the shipping price from $45 to $23. After I noted that the original shipping package needed to be sturdier (because its such a long, thin box) he said he was going to do so moving forward.
For the $$ I like them a lot. They look OEM and fit well. Friends that have been in the car haven't even noticed them until I pointed them out because they blend in so well. They're 28" long. You can put a tape measure in your door and see exatly how much area it will cover.

I kinda like those. I haven't measured, but have you had any problems with door rub? If I have the sedan can I just order 2 sets of these? Obviously I need to measure. Did you just center yours in the doorway?

@ tbowie . . . No - there hasn't been any scuffing on the door. If there was, I think I would have seen scuffing on the sill plates, too. Yes - I just eyeballed them and centered them. I'm not sure I would order them for the sedan . . .maybe the fronts but they might be too long. They'll definitely be too long for the rear doors. I would go with a set specifically for the sedans.
On a side note, the final production pieces were widened 2cm so they would be closer to the lip on the door sill.

Did he use stainless or aluminum with some kind of coating to make the sample? I would definitely be interested in a coupe set.I believe they are cut from billet aluminum. For the black wrinkle, (I seem to remember) the has the wrinkle finish applied, then cuts the design.
Here is his (the fathers) thread for the Ridgeline owners. Yes, there are over 1,000 posts with all sorts of custom sills displayed throughout. He has the billet, black wrinkle and can chrome them (as mine were). Who knows, he may have more :) I know that he can color (fill-in) the cuts as well.

I'm pretty sure you can get them from college hills honda either led lite or not. You have buy them for the sedan and I am pretty sure they fit but I am sure that they would be able to tell you.
I called collegehillshonda this afternoon, 10/17 and they don't have any for our coupes(8th gen.) and don't intend on getting any. I'll keep checking around to see if anybody else starts making some, other than the illuminated ones which I don't want. Still hoping...:dunno:

I'm definitely down...
I have the 08 coupe. How much would that be shipped to 91754 when it's ready to go?

I emailed heeltoeauto.com this morning(11/23/08) regarding sills for our 8th Gen. Coupes and here's their response::(
I am not seeing this as an option. We coulkd probably get some Inspire ones for a 4dr, but not a 2-dr.

Well, both the illuminated and normal side step garnishes are back on CollegeHillsHonda. The instructions say to only install when it's above 60 degrees Fahrenheit, would I still be ok if I order and install them now? I'm in PA and the temp has been getting quite cold now, high 30s mid 40s.

Where the h3ll is the side step garnishes for the COUPE? The sedans ones would be too short for the coupe and won't look right. I mean, nissan offers these accessories on their website for altimas. Comeon Honda, get your act together!

I know some of you were looking for these in BLACK. I found these yesterday. I emailed Lauz68, the seller about how long the front ones were, to see if they would fit our coupes. His response was 550mm, which is roughly 22 inches, too short imo. We coupe owners would need it to be at least 28 inches long or roughly 711mm. I took a tape measure to my coupe sill and 22 inches seems too short. IMO, it could work if you're desperate, but not for me. I'll wait for the proper coupe ones before I take the plunge. I asked him if he would be getting the coupe ones soon, i'll let you guys and gals know when he responds...

hey all Im working with one of the big dash kit manufacturers to set up a sill plate for the coupes... it would be for the area that is 158 " deep and we'd make them about 20 " long... made from carbon fiber with the softer epoxy overlay and would stick down with double face tape... No idea on price yet but were looking to see if that small of a space can handle a 1" accord logo cut out, the underlay with disfferent colors to amplify the look....

It would be nice if the sill can be designed so that it covers the step down areas of the door sill and not just the top flat area.

and we'd make them about 20 " long.
That's too darn short for the coupe man. I wouldn't consider them at any price. As somebody said, they need to be about 28" long to look right.

Carbon would look nice if long enough but they would scratch all to hell kinda defeating the purpose would it not?

I agree. I would prefer OEM looking aluminum ones that does not show a lot of scratches. I had OEM door sills on my CLK and after manyyears it still looked good.

Take a look at these door sills from the Russian Accord. I think I want ones with LEDs in them, but these ones are really nice...
Now -if we could just find ones long enough for the coupe.
