Is this a dealer applied sealant that lasts for five years or something like that?

yes. pass.
right, they contract through someone else to do the work though. Appearantly is like a rainx on steroids. They coat everything on the outside including the wheels and glass and they do everything on the inside.
they had a car with it applied to the hood in the showroom. Right when I got there friday to pick my car up the guy i was working with grabbed me n took me over to the car before we started on the paperwork. The guy grabs a can of spray paint and tells me to spray the hood. I'm like wtf? OK, spray the hood and we go finish up signing papers. Once we finished he walked me back over to the car and just wiped the spray paint off with his finger...

Money for nothing.
oh well. we'll see how i like it. should be nice never having to wax the car and u don't even have to use soap when u wash it. just spray it off. no discoloring of the wheels from brake dust and corrosion either from what I've been told.

Did you know that everything you are offered by the F & I(Fleece and Insult) people is marked up to the max.
For the money you could have detailed annually by a professional detailer.

a real polishing/wax job FTW:banana:
Don't you think if it was really that easy EVERYONE would be doing it?
no, because you still have to pay for it, most dealers don't offer it, and it's only been in the automotive market for about a year and a half.
What's your experience with this product again?
dealer had the service marked down nearly $400 from what it costs normally.

Just wondering, how much did you pay??
$600, 5 yr transferable warranty. I have the option to re-coat everything in 5 years for $150, which also renews the warranty.

You don't really belive this stuff is going to last 5 years, or even a couple of years, do you?
If you do, then I have some prime waterfront property in the North Pole I'd like to sell you!

OK, let's be nice to SoK now (BTW is it short for South Korea?).
This stuff and pretty much anything like that is Snake Oil, too good to be true, it's a rip-off, the dealership is taking you to the cleaners, you are being robbed blind!!!
There are a lot of knowledgeble people on this forum, we have nothing to gain from you spending or not spending $600 + tax on this, but do trust us when we are trying to tell you really nicely that you are just throwing money down the drain, you might as well donate the money to a (legitiment) charity because it will do far more good than giving the money to the stealership.......

i enjoy waxing my car...i get to give her the treatment she deserves:)
btw my grandma got a coating similar to the stuff you want on her 94 accord, and she got it done about every 5 years, and her car today, well lets just say it needs a new paint job...the clear coat is flaking off of the roof, and hood. and how is my paint? it has a few scratches, but it shines like new:naughty:

OKAY...thank god I found you, please read my post!!! I, unfortunately, bought the Xzilon about a year ago. Verdict is....it sucks @$$. I've had it on my car and does it eliminate waxing?? Lemme be honest, HELL NO. My car, just like a lot of other black cars over time, has developed swirl marks. How do you get rid of them?? You gotta wax em off. But guess what?? Xzilon's warranty is voided if an ounce of wax touches it anywhere. So, I can either void my warranty or just stick with it and drive around in a scratched up beemer all pissed off.
Funny thing, I've been fighting Granatize about their product and no matter what I say, they wont gimme my money back. Oh and another thing, if and when I get hit by a sprinkler the calcium deposits are a PITA to get out and thus the Xzilon doesn't do isht. Basically, DONT GET XZILON!!!
On another note HOWEVER, my friend also got it on his titanium silver and it looks good but hey, it's silver and you can't see a damn thing on silver unless there is a large pile of isht on it. I actually clayed and waxed my trunk lid today too see if there is a big difference b/w wax and xzilon and lemme tell you, that trunk was shining like a mofo compared to the rest of my car. I had ppl telling me that it was standing out from the rest of the car. Also, the trunk lid felt like glass where the rest of the car felt like sandpaper!!
SAVE YOUR MONEY!! Instead of buying Xzilon, by a damn alarm...in retrospect the money woulda been better spent

Friend that is a 100% waste of money. They have got you hook line & sinker. Cancel this garbage and get your money back, it is a major joke. Never wax your car again? PUHLEEZE, give me a break! Spray it off when it's dirty and no soap or washing required? Please tell me you're not really that gullible.
I used to sell this crap when I sold cars, read the fine print to see what is really required for the warrantee to stick. In the trade people that bought it we called mullets, as in dumb baitfish. After a while I refused to sell or even mention it and I got fired for it. Baitfish or not? Your choice.

It would have been better to buy detailing gear or a clear bra (which still needs care). Oh well, it's his decision...

well shit thanks for the advice everyone, I'll call the dealer now and get this thing canceled then. Sounds like it's better to just get the clear bra on the front and mirrors.
They really did talk this stuff up big time at the dealer. I figured it was the real deal with the spray paint display and since I'd never heard of it before.
thanks again

Glad to see you've come to your senses!
You know the old saying: "There is a sucker born every minute!", you are now NOT that sucker.
Yes you are much better off spending that $600 on a professionally applied Clear Bra and a jug of good car wax.
Oh, DO NOT arrange the Clear Bra to be done through the car dealership, I think by now you know why!
:)
lol thanks for the tip, i'll talk to a body shop nearby I've used a few times before.
Might be able to get that done and get the HID's installed with what I'm saving.

Is this a dealer applied sealant that lasts for five years or something like that?
No. The sealant doesn't last 5 years. They just warranty the protection for 5 years. If something happens to it, they'll either clean or fix it.
Wish I could see the fine print though... I'm sure there are a bunch of exclusions and such. For example, their web site says:
How do I clean my vehicle after Xzilon has been applied?
We suggest regular routine washing and general maintenance on the vehicle. Regular washing should be at least every 2 weeks, including interior vacuuming, in addition we require immediate removal of spills and debris
So, what happens if you don't follow their maintenance.... like washing the car "at least every 2 weeks?" Is your warranty void if you miss a wash?
Don't want to wash the car yourself? Okay. Take it to a carwash. Oops. Wait. You better have your warranty handy to make sure they wash and dry it correctly otherwise they'll have an excuse to void your warranty.
Can I take my car to a car wash?
Yes, you can use a drive through a car wash, as long as it is a "Touch-less" or "Brush-less" variety. You never want anything to scratch your protection. Please make sure your car is dried completely. You may wish to dry it by hand with a soft cotton towel or a chamois.
Let's say your car ends up with swirls because you're washing it "at least every 2 weeks" and you want to polish them out. From what I've read, you won't be able to do that because the polishing will remove the protection, thus voiding your warranty. You'll have to take the car back to the dealer and pay them an arm and a leg to do the polishing.
Seems like there are too many ways for them to get out of honoring the warranty.
Everything I've heard and read about Xzilon leads to the same conclusion: Waste of money because it's just a paint sealant, albeit one on steroids.
OP.... you have the warranty handy? I'd be real interested in reading it.
i do have the paperwork in my car, let me know what you're looking for and i'll try and help out

I had it done at Superior Window Film in Oakville, it wasn't cheap, $600+tax, but it was a custom job and was very well done, the shop (with its' own building) has been around for 15 plus years and the quality of the work shows, particularly when they covered pretty much all of the front end components, including all of the front bumper, front 1/2 of the hood, front 1/2 of both fenders, both mirrors top to bottom (not just the front facing portion).
I look at the expense as money well spent compared to having the front end of the car repainted in a few years, the repaint will never adhere as well as factory paint, especially on plastic parts like bumper, been there done that too many times over the last 20 years and NEVER had a good result, even the high-end shop charging $5,000 to paint the front end would not promise as-good-as-factory paint adhesion.
By the way, Superior uses Venture Shield film, it is smoother and shows no orange peel surface pattern when compared to the 3M film, better warranty too than 3M film.
3M Trim-Line outfits locally are another option, there is one in Brampton and one in Oshawa, but obviously they will use 3M film.....
All I can say is after almost 9 months of driving on highway everyday, there is only 1 tiny nick on the film that is noticeable, pretty darn good when you consider the debries from broken up road surfaces through the winter, and how fast and close people drive on Toronto area highways!

I actually purchased the demo car that the owner of the Hagerstown dealership was driving. After I had signed all the papers and everything, the owner came up to me and told me that even though it was not included on the invoice (because it was applied and not recorded or something) he told me my car does have the coating....
1. I am not going to test it out by spray painting the car and and seeing if I can wipe it off with my finger.
2. I do have to say that the car does bead water like no other car I have ever seen.
3. Rinsing at the car was DOES NOT remove all break dust from the car. I can do it once a week for about 3 - 4 weeks before I need to hand wash it. When hand washing, the dirt/grime comes right off with absolutely no problem. I do think it makes hand washing much easier.
I would never pay $600 (my dealer told me it was worth $800!) for this application. I would maybe pay $200 at the very most.
I think it does HELP with removing dirt at the car wash, but the bottom line is that we all have to do a hand wash every once in a while to keep the car clean.

Xzillion is very effective........ against spray paints.
if you live in a graffiti prone area... this may be your best solution.
and here is another little hint for you...
if you dont have a single stage(laquer based) paint job (pre-1990)... so you have base coat clear coat paint. there are a number of easy ways to get spray paint off. Meguairs clay works really well... you can even use a soft cloth with paint thinner on it. it does not affect the clearcoat but will wipe the spray paint off... just like the infomercial there.
