If not, is there any way to enable this for road trips?

I know the Nav on the TL can be hacked to play dvd's...they had a thread going on acurazine relating to that...might want to do a search on their forum...

if i'm not mistaken; the TL Nav screen can be hacked to show video from another source (DVD player, game systems, etc...) not to be mistaken with playing DVD's through the stock Nav unit...

No, it can't play DVDs. It's designed exclusively for the nav system. I thought the same thing when I saw the box in my trunk, but on the owner's link website, it explains this in the faq's section.

thats too bad... makes sense for safety reasons but i'd still love that option for road trips w/ passengers.

No kidding. When I saw the DVD box in the trunk I thought to myself "Damn this car has it all!" I'm sure that there is some way that you could rig it up to play dvds, but why risk ruining your nav system?

that's what I'd love to find. I figured someone would have that done already but I can't seem to find anything on it. Been around a few accord forums but I'm not turning up anything I'm looking for.

You are looking for NAVTV i think.

There is at least one person on here that has done this mod. If Im not mistaken, it runs around $300.

Do a search on here, and then search the web for NAVTV

NAV tv in Boca Raton is the company you need to call Ask for Bobby Basil he is my rep Tell him "jeff" with the accord in miami. He can get you all of the specs for the integration and you can use any 12 volt dvd player. additionally it will give you a second video input for back up cam, etc... the only thing you may have to do is brance the Aux audio out to the dyd Player so thaT YOU GET THE AUDIO FEED.. THIS MAKE THE CENTER CONSOLE A PARFECT PLACE TO HOUSE THE DVD PLAYER... The Nav TV system averages somewhere around 350.00 plus shipping... This honestky the right way to go Go start hacking your new accord apart..... Youd be taking chances with a new car and an electrical warranty.... JMO!

:thumbsdow I took a look at the website, but I'm very weary of aftermarket electronic work. The 08 accord nav system is an intricate tool that is tuned specifically to many functions of your car. I can just imagine what kind of electrical problems you'd have by tampering with it. And like Jamie said, you'd void your waranty. I would just be patient and wait. Honda will come up something, and I would let them do the work. It's a safer way to go. And ask yourself, Do you really need a back up camera? A camera is not going to show everything. There will still be blindspots so you still should be looking over your shoulder. Are you really gonna be watching a movie while you're driving? I sure as hell hope not!

To A Point I Agree With Dark.. But, I Do Know This Company I Know The Rep. And They Are Beyond Reputable And Are Renowned For Their Products. They Dispay Every Year At Ces And Are Recognized For Bing The Leaders In The Industry For Oem Integration. Being That Video Visible To The Driver Is Illegal In All 50 States, Dont Count On Honda Releasing Anything Of The Sort, Your Only Option Is Going To Be The Aftermarket Side.. I Called Bobby About This Same Question. He Told Me That The Instructions Come With The System And Any Half Wit Should Be Able To Acomplish The Intall With Common Sense. Ive Known Bobby For The Last 12 Years Personally And Professionally And Trust Him Hands Down He Was The Install Director And Trainer For Tweeter For The Southeast Region For Years But At The Age Of 50+ And Health Issues (back Probs) He Needed To Get Out Of The Install Bay I Would Recommend This Setup To Anyone Looking To Integrate Btw The Same Unit Works On The O7's As Well

I do see plenty of Odyssey's with the up front (in-dash) LCD along with rear kiddie lcds playing DVDs all the time...

... of course, this is in Park and thus, legal in all 50 states. I don't see why Honda doesn't do the same or offer the option for other Honda's that have such a nice/large integrated screen in the dash ... oh well, all in due time and by then ...it'll play x264 and prob blu-ray's. lol

It's not having a lcd playing a dvd that gets the most tickets around here (while the car is moving and right in front or visible to the driver) it's playing 'pr0n' that gets folks around here in trouble ...not sure why one wants to garner that sorta attention or make a spectacle of themselves while on the road by blaring some p0rn on lcd's ...but I saw it in our paper last week and have heard about tickets being written up for this issue..lmao.

How does the control interface work with the Navtv?

JamieJam1AIM

Well my understanding is that there is a cross interface so it jumps the wires then you change the nav/ aux input from the remote for the nav tv I havent done it yet but since I have 2 dvd players 2 cameras ( front & rear) & PS3 going into the car It is going to be a necessity for me remembber my car is a whole other level of nuts.. ( Manufacturer demo vehicle)

I dunno man, my PS3 is collecting dust in my living room so I don't think I need to put it in the EX-L. But still :notworthy just for attempting it. Is your front camera going to be infared or night vision?
