hey guys finally got my custom box done.. Alpine PDX600.1 and a alpine type R 12".
ill have pics up tomorrow when im at work..
have a question for those who have actually installed amp and woofer combo in the 8th gen..
i know the factory radio is made where if u turn up the vol it cuts out the bass..
is there something i can do to stop this or make it better?
i have a bass knob but i still think that the factory radio is holding back what my sound should actually be.

it still jams.. but i know for a fact when i turn it up high... the subs dont go higher.. know what i mean?
like it lvls out at a certain vol... so i would have to crank the bass knob up higher to get more bass... but when i lower the vol on the radio i can hear the bass really loud.

how did you hook up the input for the amp?

put in a LOC (stepdown) to convert the signal to rca.. used the factory subwoofer wire there. gray and blue i think.

G - you are exactly right. It is called DSP (Digital Signal Processing) and it changes the EQ curve at each volume location. As you turn the volume up, it starts to cut the bass so to protect the speakers. It also changes mids and highs to make the relatively weak factory speakers sound good.
There are several products made to eliminate DSP from factory systems:
JL Audio Cleansweep
Alpine PXE-H650
Rockford Fosgate 3Sixty
All 3 will take speaker level inputs, eliminate DSP, and give you RCA output for your amp(s). In the case of the Cleansweep, this is all that it does and it does an awesome job... giving you strong 8volt output for the amps.
The other systems include more features like EQ capabilities, USB interfaces, Sound staging, etc. They don't give you as clean or strong of an output but make up for it with features.
hope this helps.

Yes. If anything, I would expect the DSP effect to be more dramatic on the rear speakers... when compared to the subwoofer channel.

I have hi/low adpaters on my stock head unit and a full aftermarket system. They by-passed my factory amp and I still have full subwoofer out controls from the head unit with no issues from the ANC. My subs dont level out at any specific volume. No major issues with my system.

People have been disconnecting the mic above the rearview mirror and there is another one behind the drivers head in the side panel that trigger the ANC issues. This is what I read anyways...I didnt have to do this though in my car. I didnt do the install so Im not sure what they did to avoid this for me.

JL clean sweep It flat lines the frequencies and equalizes it to taste then you add the crossover points the radio turns down the sub bass and midbass to protect overmodulation to the speakers ( keeps them from blowing... your option like I said is the JL clean sweep...

i'd like to know as well. doesn't dynamat absorb soundwaves? what actually reduces rattling...something that adds weight?:dunno:
