I just bought a 2002 Honda Accord SE Auto 23K miles this past weekend and want to do fluid changes. Are there any problems in switching to M1 Synthetics in the oil and transmisson? What other areas should I address at this mileage and in the future?

I had an 89 Prelude before that went 220K miles before I traded it, but this is my first Accord.

Thanks for any asisstance....

Welcome, wasilla!

There's been a few discussions on synth vs. dino oils..... look around & I'm sure you'll find a variety of opinions...

As far as questions about what's best check out a site called bobstheoilguy.com
it has test results & such.

The tranny, I think you're best of sticking with the Honda stuff.

At 23K you're barely broke in!
;)

Other than fluid changes, it's kinda as needed or depends on your driving conditions. If you got over 200K on your Prelude, then I'm sure you'll figure out a good pattern for the Accord. We do fluids at 5K, just easier for us. Our weather is mild, our driving a mix.

Load some pictures of you new "baby" in the gallery for us all to see!:D What color did you go with? Any accessories? Are the wheels/rims stock?

Switching to M1 synthetic oil will be fine.
The ATF I'm not so sure about. Does the M1 meet the Honda Z1 spec. If it does, then you should be ok.
