Visited my local Pontiac dealer this evening to poke and prod a red G8 GT.

Stickered out @ $31,900 and was pretty well loaded.

Interior actually looks decent.

Exterior-wise, from the side, car looks pretty good. From behind FUGLY. From the front, FUGLY.

@ 15 MPG city gm may have a tuff time unloading thees puppies even w/ their incentives....

I need to make my way over to one. I personnally think this car looks great (better than the Accord) and is a wonderful value over any car in its price range.

Even Top Gear has given this car the thumbs up!

Looks good from the sides, even though the side/faux vent could've been integrated a bit better for the flow. It was funny, my best friend lives across the street from the pontiac dealer and we drove over in my car, the salesman got all excited thinking I might 'trade-in' this car and how it would be a great 'sales story' ...I shot down that theory pretty quick, asking the question..'Is it still made by GM' ...reply 'Yes, but it has a V8!' ...

lmao ... maybe that's the way they are taught to sell them, but I hope not! Needless to say, the car is a better step than the rest of the crap that's come out of the Pontiac camp in the last few yrs, yes..im looking at you G6 coupe/sedan ... Grand Prix ...etc.

The ride was nice and it can corner, the V8 was def in full effect...my die hard benz friend was the one who tested it, and even he had some nice stuff to say about it. For 31 grand though, i'd want a new front end and a unique rear on the car because if you don't see it from the side, it mixes in with the sea of pontiac's already out there.

From what I've seen of them so far...I would sport one for sure!

And with the mileage, you buy that kind of car for performance, not gas mileage...

I stopped by the local Pontiac dealer to check them out last Sunday. They had 2 of them, a base model and a GT model, sitting out in their lot. I like the looks of them and they seem to be a good deal for the price. One thing I wish is that they offered a manual in either car. I know the GT will eventually get one, but right now auto is your only choice. Also the car is very heavy. I don't see a reason it coudn't have been designed to be 500 lbs lighter. You're never going to get good mileage numbers from a car that weighs nearly 4000 lbs. Personally I don't see it being very successful...might turn out to be another GTO for Pontiac :(

since I had Pontiacs before my Accord I decided to drop by my Pontiac dealer and see what the fuss was about.
First thing I noticed was the $3000 (base) - $5000 (GT) "MARKET ADJUSTMENT" attached to the window sticker.
It funny how they have discounts on all their other cars and then a huge markup on the G8, because they actually think people are going to pay that.

So I got the salesman all excited thinking I was going to trade in a Honda on a Pontiac. I took a loaded V6 for a test drive. I was not very impressed. The handling was tight, which is nice. But there just wasn't the power that I expected from the V6. 256hp/248lb-tq.
I personally think my V6 accord feels quicker than this car.
The one thing I liked was the RWD. I hate the feel of FWD cars when they produce too much over/under steer. Sometimes my Accord gets squirelly when accelerating.

The interior felt like it would hold up for a year or two. Then become typical GM and start falling apart. All my GM's interiors started getting crappy after a few years.

Overall, I was not impressed. Sure the GT is going to be a hell of a lot more powerful, but it's still essentially the same car. The trunk was small, and the inside felt really tight and cramped.

Oh well, I'll stick to my Accord, then eventually move on to my G35 or FX35

I am not surprised that your Accord felt quicker...it is. Remember both cars have basically the same HP, but the G8 is carrying 300-400 lbs more than the Accord. That makes a big difference. The GT with the V-8 is a different story :).
