trade it in asap. if you have to drive away to new dealer, do it for you advantage. you'll never be happy with that particular car again... :(

the accident damage is so darn obvious (entire driver's side, plus hood and front bumper were replaced), i can't figure out how to get enough for it for the life of me. right now i think my best bet is to actually sell it to a private party if at all possible. in "fair" condition for private party it's worth 17,420. fair is what the dealership categorized it as for trade in. (good is 18,940 for private party, 16,755 for trade in.).....

i can take that $100 hit for the private party value if i can somehow sell it for that. but i can't take the $2500 hit on a trade in... :sorry: (unless i trade down to an lx or a civic...)

plus i raise a ton of red flags because i want to buy the same exact car.....

or maybe i could go backwards and go to one like this?

http://cars.kbb.com/go/search/detail.jsp?tracktype=usedcc&searchType=21&paId=131022701&pageNumber=0&numResultsPerPage=50&largeNumResultsPerPage=0&sortorder=descending&sortfield=PRICE+descending&certifiedOnly=false&recnum=4&leadExists=true&criteria=K-%7CE-%7CM-_18_%7CD-_212_%7CN-N%7CR-30%7CI-1%7CP-PRICE+descending%7CQ-descending%7CZ-15301&aff=carskbb

somehow, i think i'd find every tiny little imperfection with a used car though! :(

:D We know!! Your doing that with the used car you own!!:D

If you want to sell privately, you need to get paint cleaned up and detail..... below 20 deg temps and snow is not a prime time to sell a M/T Coupe so you may have to wait...Patience!!!;)

notthe exact same car... an 05, you want the lighted steering wheel buttons. :)

anysia

too bad that what would probably come out of my mouth would be " i want the 05 for the side curtain air bags because of the accident i was in...." not" i want those lit steering wheel controls!"

and then i'd have to insert foot in mouth......

if i was "smart" i'd downgrade to a civic for a year or so and just say i can't afford the accord because of the divorce.... now there's a story i can actually use, but it would mean no more accord for atleast a year! :bawling: (and it would probably work better if i try selling to a private party instead of trading it in!)

That's got to be frustrating... I'm sorry :(

I would try trading in for an 05 Accord LX sedan. Say you need the 4 doors now and slightly smaller payments. The LX sedans have terrific resale value and you should be able to trade up again later without too much pain.

i wonder if i can pit dealership against dealership again? i wonder if that would help at all considering i already have what is probably one of the best quotes on the new one that i'll find. but maybe some dealerships will be desperate enough to make that one last sale for the year later this week that if i give them my bottom line, one of them will meet it?

that maybe a bit of wishful thinking i guess... after all, i need to "find" $2500 more in the deal somewhere!

im mad confused anysia, why do you want to sell your car again?
i still remember offering to trade my 6 spd in with yours, and offering you advice on how to learn the clutch on a hill.
i know you had the accident and all but why would u want to sell the car?
btw i would say that 16665 is a very very good price on it
considering i can barely get 22 for my 6 spd WITH navi.

What is your current financing rate / term / balance? Is it worse than the 1.9% they are offering now?

all of the little quirks and things i keep finding as a result of the accident and the $8400 in repairs... (so far mainly cosmetic things.)

i don't want to always be worrying about what residual effects there might be from the accident a day, a week, a month, a year down the road.

i don't want to find out the hard way that the car isn't as structurally sound either.

plus i'm beginning to feel like this particular car has a bullseye on it.....

:sorry:

my current is $17500 approx at 3.9 for 60 mos

the new one would be 1.9%, for 60 mos at 20,715 + the remaining balance due on the current one. result is a $70 per month increase in my payment....

If you don't like the repair, step one is to complain to the body shop & insurance! Many do such a nice job that you'd have to look up the VIN to know it had been crunched! So if you can tell so obviously, then they didn't do a very good job!:(

If they do it right, maybe you'd like it again!

current pmt = $320

1. Dealer invoice on '05 EX coupe is $20500
2. Many dealers are selling $300 BELOW invoice ($20200) - or even better depending on timing
3. If you shop around, you may find a dealer willing to quote you $17,500 for trade
4. $2700 net + tax = $2862 = $20362 new total
5. $20362 @ 1.9% = $355 new pmt

If you can swallow $35 more per month ($1 per day btw)
;) , then I suggest you start shopping with some serious energy, and you just might get your wish...

Call every dealer within 2 hours drive, and tell them you want:

1. A different color (they'll believe that coming from a female)
2. Lighted steering wheel controls
3. Better finance rate
4. other???

You thought you might find a year-end deal, so you decided to make some calls.

The first dealer to give you an '04 EX coupe in xxxxx color for your car +$2800 out the door gets your business.

You can even do it by e-mail to save time.

And try Faulkner Honda in Harrisburg first - they will deliver it to your door at no charge; may even take your car sight unseen on a delivery. Tell them the guys at hondapilot.org sent you...many of them have purchased from Faulkner, including me.

i think the main reason i can tell so easily is because i know my car so well. the main reason the dealership was able ot tell so easily was a welded area, some bolts that paint had been stripped off of, the hood missing a couple of rubber pieces and the original oem stickers (like the on that says "catalyst" really large-yeah i pay that much attention to my car to know a sticker is mia!! :lmao: )

they said the body work from the exterior looks good. the paint is very well matched, the seams are lined up, the headlight is in the right position, etc (not including the indentation by the sunroof). it's the stuff under the hood that was the dead giveaway of the repair.

i think it's time to get a male involved to help with complaining to the body shop. i stink at face to face confrontation and it's really bad when it's me versus a bunch of guys in what is typically a "male only" field. i fall into the "dumb female" trap too easily, even though i know i have a valid compaint.

actually, since mine started out higher than the 17500, my current payment is $355, so there would be no change in pmt if i could get what i owe for my car.

hmm, maybe i'll have to try some of these dealers that are farther out from me. (given that i used the email thing to get this one and involved darn near every dealership within 50-60 miles for that back in may/june! :D and i think i may have sufficiently ticked off a few of them by not budging and refusing to talk on the phone until i had an offer i was interested in!)

hmm, better finance rate, true, i've used that one before, guess i could use that again. different color wouldn't work, cuz i'm still stuck on the black! too bad i finally like the mt and don't want to go back to an at, or i could go for an at and use that as an excuse! ;)

they were supposed to contact the insurance co and see what they can do. and that either them or the insurance co would get back to me.....

that was last wednesday i think??

i hate calling too often. i always feel like i'm bugging people! although *realistically* i know nearly a week should be plenty of time for an answer, and therefore i should call and start bugging them for one. :sorry:

i hate these types of situations! i always feel like i have no business complaining! i have no idea why i feel that way, but it ALWAYS happens! (maybe i've just been "beaten down" with words so many times that i have no faith in my own ability to fight for what is right!) :headbash:

ok, i'll call when i'm done at work.

then on my way home, i'll stop at my parents' house ot see if i can borrow my brother to take a ride over to the body shop one of these days while he's home for xmas. (lack of any other persuasive male figure in my life! my dad would be great for the job, but i can see now just how well the begging and pleading for him to help would go over with him.... )

on the other hand, does anyone know of any mfr to delaer incentives on 05 accords?? or any remaining deals on remaining new 04's?? (if i can find one... but hey, if i can find a new 04, that might just be the perfect route to take for me! i'm going to start checking with local dealers to see if they have any or know of any.....)

when i got my 04 sedan in oct, there was apparently a hidden $800 or so (i think) factory to dealer incentive that the dealer took off invoice price. i dont know if that's over or not, so YMMV...

there might probably still be some 04's out there, especially MT ones since theyre not as popular. good luck :)

i dont know how close these are to you, but i did a search for dealers around Pittsburgh, PA on hondacars.com and looked at the ones that had online inventory...

Baierl Honda has a taffeta white 04 EX coupe MT (baierlhonda.com)

Honda Village Superstore has a san marino red 04 EX-V6 MT (smailhonda.com)

anysia

thanks for all the info!!!

i have to look up the internet guy for baierl. i had tried working out a deal with him for the car i have now. he seemed decent, but he couldn't find the car i wanted! ;)

i bet honda village still wants way too much for the v6 though....

country motors tried to talk me into an 03 white 6spd demo (23k miles) when i originally was looking and wanted 23,600-on a car that in june was nearly 2 years old in the car world andserved as a demo....
