I am at that point and needed to take it in to the dealer. Just trying to make sure I don't get ripped off. What is then normal charge as well?

Likely very little. Various inspections, maybe oil & filter, change cabin air filter......all at outrageous prices.

Buy the cabin air filter yourself for under $20 and do it just like this:

You can change the oil & filter yourself for under $20 also.

I'd just take it in for a tire rotation and oil change with the standard 26pt inspection. Probably about $40-45 for that.

Make sure they stamp the owners manual. That's always nice to have in there incase you loose the receipt. :)

There's no mileage based service on your 07.

What does your Maintenance Minder read? What codes is it displaying?

it wasn't reading any codes. I was at 20% and called in to schedule the appointment for when it hit 15% and the guy mentioned that the car needed to get a 10,000 mile service. I was a little concerned and called several dealerships in other states and they told me the same thing when I tried to schedule an appointment.

Therefore I went ahead and got it done. The cost was the same at every dealership $80-$85. That's not bad. I got tire rotation, brakes cleaned, oil and filter, top off all fluids, exhaust check, car wash, transmission check, and few other things check. I think it is called a mult-point inspection instead of a 10,000 mile service. My friend has a honda and lives in PA and that is what he said they call it there. I guess in GA it was a 10,000 mile service. Oh well. I am not complaining about just wondering.

At 10K, all I had done was oil change (free from dealer) and rotated tires myself.

I believe the code was B1.

The 2005 and older models use the fixed time/distance schedule that involves a service every 10k and an oil change every 5k if operated under severe service. The 2006 and newer models use an engine oil life system that calculates the optimal interval for each individual driver. Many dealers still push the old time/distance schedules on vehicle equipped with the oil life system as they want more business.

Your oil life was at 20% remaining, so the service wasn't due yet. Once you drop to 15% remaining, the codes would appear. It would've probably showed a B1.

On the other hand, 80-85 is very reasonable. We pay between $120-$140 for the same service out here in the Bay Area, CA, area.

after more research today I did figure the dealer was really trying to make money. that's cool too. I got it checked out and it gives a good feeling all is running well. therefore when I put in on the long road trip in the next couple of weeks i can ride and not worry about what could be wrong with it.
