View Full Version : XM Oddity/Problem?

Never had this on any other car with XM includin my 2005, so I'm thinking it's a software issue on the 08 with Navi. I might call dealer and see if there are any updates for it.
Three times in the past week I've been happily listening to XM, switched to FM for a bit, then back to XM and suddenly... NO SOUND. The display indicates everything (title, etc.) so I know it's getting the XM signal OK--or mostly OK.
And it will stay like that until I actually turn the car off and back on. Once I turn the engine off and back on, the sound comes thru just fine.
Because the 'reset' fixes it, I'm inclined to believe that it's a software issue. it's also inconsistent. Not thrilled with them having to tear my dash apart if it's a hardware issue.
Anyone else hear of this, have it, etc?

This has happened to me a few times and usually I can get the XM back after cycling through the modes, I do have another problem where the Nav LCD screen doesn't come on after the car is started and have to shut the motor off to re-cover the screen.
I too fear having the dealer tear into my dash but since I have a rattle up near the windshield on the passenger side I don't think I have much choice.
Good luck

Yes, this occurred to me one time. I never thought much of it. That was 2 months ago and hasn't happened since.
I have the EX V6 non-navi sedan and had this problem happen to me twice now in 2 months possession of the car.
Funny thing was it actually happened for the 2nd time when I was on my way to the dealer.. Once I got to the dealership I had forgotten that turning the car off 'reboots' the XM radio :( I wasn't able to reproduce the problem so I never mentioned it but it seems like other people are having similar problems which I first thought it was a XM satellite issue..

i have never seen this happen to me, but i have seen the Navi not turn on after the car starts requirement me to push enter or navi to bring it back up. Like sleep mode or something

I think its just like a computer. If it crashes or something is non-functional, you just simply turn it off and turn it back on again.
Come to think of it....the map froze on me one time too...turned the car off and turned it back on again. Everything back to normal.

I've never had a problem with the NAVI itself or the screen, other than when I forget to click the disclaimer screen at beginning and it goes blank and I have to push enter to turn it back on... but that's not really a PROBLEM, just a pilot error.
I'll keep my eye on the XM thing and if it continues, I might call dealership and see if there's a TSB or something out on it.

It happened to me once as well in a non-navi sedan.
It was the day before a road trip and the thought of driving accross Pennsylvania with no XM was frightening.
I was much relieved when rebooting the car did the trick.

Same here. I've had the same problem. I've been driving for less than a month. The first time I had the issue was on the second day I had it. The problem's been on and off though. I didn't run into any issues for a couple of weeks and now it's acting up a little again. The sound skips for a bit. The issue maybe because I have bad reception. But it was a clear sky, :dunno: not a cloud in sight.
