My stereo shop checked w/ Metra for me the other day and the kits "should" be available within two weeks....

Odd thing they noted was a factory finish match is only available for non-climate control (single zone).... Hoping this isn't true...

The metra kits for then 7g are downright awful.

I will not be surprised if the 8th gen is no different.

I fully agree w/ the 7g kit comment.

The 8g kit uses the OEM switches and vents whereas the 7g had super-cheezey replacement buttons n vents.

Cost for kit will be around $80. I go to Xtreme Car Audio in Grand Rapids, MI

They're going to order one, lemme see it and if it's good enough, I'll have them install it. Will keep ya updated.

IMHO, the dash layout of the 8G doesn't really lend itself to an aftermarket kit...once all those buttons disappear from the dash surface it will just look empty and too "plasticky" :dunno:

W/ a single din I agree. Am putting a dbl din eclipse w/ 7" scrn into the slot n it'll fill it up nicely.

Am holding onto hope that manuf will have removed their head from their *you know what* and dezynd a kit becoming of a 30k car.

One thing I did notice is that w/ the kit it appears that all of the inputs for changing the clock r gone.? this would seem an odd decision but in two weeks I'll know....

7th gens have a better option (http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Product/Item/Main.aspx?g=112200&i=120997862&tp=3121). Owners can even use the better quality OEM kit.

Hopefully they have something similar for you 8th gen owners.

I had that kit on my last accord (2003 sedan). I loved it. A quick glance at the dash and it would look stock. I checked out the Metra site and I won't be purchasing that kit. It looks pretty ugly. :thumbsdow IF they come out with a kit to replace the lower pockets then I'll spring for that.

Hey there Oz,

Yes, I'm installing a 5510 which is a Nav/DVD system. I'll do my best to try and remember to ask my stereo guys as they'll be installing the deck 4 me.

U may wish to post ur question in a technical forum and Princess may be able to hook u up w/ a schematic. She seems to have the inside track on all things Accord. U may even b better off PM'ing her although posting may help answer this question for others...

Best of luck to you.

What r u drivin?

For the reverse wire, simply go to the reverse bulb to see the colors of the wires. Usually one is black, and the other color is the one you want. Just test it with a meter to make sure you got it right. If you don't want to run a wire all the way to the trunk, remove the driver's side kick panel and sill plate, and look for the same color wire in the loom going to the rear. That is what I do when I install navi/video screens. It should read 0 volts at rest, and when the ignition is on AND the car is in reverse, it should read 12 volts (14 if the car is running, but you don't need the engine to be running) I am not at work right now to get you the VSS, but I will try and remember to post it up tomorrow if the info is available.

Hey dash242,

Thanks for the suggestion...I would like that info when you are done installing it also I like to see some picture too. I did post it up at the audio section but not much luck, one member did suggest the reverse light wire. Once again thanks and good luck. BTW I drive a 08 Accord LX-S I4 PMM

Sorry for the late reply, but the VSS for an 08 accord is violet by passenger side fusebox in pin E6. Sorry, but that is all I have. I personally have not done one of these cars yet, this is just the info that I have. I cannot elaborate on the location, etc. cuz I don't have any more info! I hope it is enough to help out though. Let me know if it did!
