I just bought an 06 accord with about 15k miles on it. I got a really nice deal on it and so far am pretty happy. I wanted the economy of the 4 banger with some sportiness so the 5mt was a must. I really love the smooth engine, the leather seats are great and the dash and interior overall are definately above average. The refreshed exterior also looks much nicer.. maybe even somewhat sporty. However, when driving back on the highway, the driver side door started to rattle on rough pavement and when i put pressure on the door with my elbow, it stopped. I did a couple seraches on this and it seems common enough. Did anyone have an easy fix for this (other than to turn up the volume)?

Otherwise, no complaints. Its roomy, quick (still getting shifting timing down), and pretty luxurious (other than the rattle).

Welcome to the site. You will find many good tidbits of information here.

First thing to try is the silicone grease on the door seals. That usually works for me. You can get the Shin-Etsu from http://www.handaaccessories.com/accmaint06.html. As a quick test, look for some at a hardware store (try plumbing department) and put it on both the door and frame seals before you spend the $ on the Shin-Etsu. If this solves the problem, get the S-E - it is much nicer to work with.

thanks for the info. just took the wife out on a quick errand as an excuse to drive it around. Coming from a family of truck owners, she really likes the new car.

While I'm thinking about it, what light mods are worth doing to make minor improvements without compromising longevity? Quieter/more capable tires? better air intakes? I saw some stuff about an acura TL sway bar too. Anyone have experience with this?

I think we have pretty much the same car. Ive had mine for about 4-5 months now and am very happy. Ive been getting about 26-27 mpg driving 50/50 downtown city and highway. I just took her on a road trip and averaged 32 mpg, but it was on on very mountainess trip LOTS of ups and downs.

Something I thought was funny when I bought the car was the dealer - at a nissan dealership - who even did a little stunt on the backroad taking it up to 80mph didnt believe me when i told him it was "pretty quick for a 4 banger". He was like yeah ok.. then he opens the hood later and is bewildered because he says he can only see 4 cylinders. Its a smooth and powerful little powertrain!

BTW, its peanut butter jelly time!

He says he SAW the 4 cylinders?! He took off the engine head and gasket and looked at the cylinders?! ..just playing.. haha ..
A quick and easy way to determine I4 vs V6 as most people know is to just look at the exhaust pipes in the back. 2 exhausts mean V6.

With regards to rattles, they are indeed covered by the warranty. I had a pretty bad door rattle, and I took it to the dealer to fix it. They fixed the rattle but in the process warped my door and window switch plate. I had to take it back to have them fix what they did :(

My car has so many rattles, I've just given up and decided to live with them .....

Yeah it was kinda funny. I knew what the 2.4L (in the ad) meant so I just kept slipping hints like "pretty good for a 4 cyl" but he didnt say "yeah" he just looked like he didnt believe me. I think he opened the hood later just to see for himself. Gotta love the amount of car knowledge car salesman have but to be fair he didnt sell hondas.
