A fellow co-worker wrote Sen. John McCain today asking that the money earmarked for the Inaugural parties be sent to the disaster relief efforts in Southeast Asia. Sounds like a good idea.

Since I've never been invited, they can use the money for something else.... but there's so much to choose from.... our own country has starvation, homeless, decease, poor education..... it would probably be a drop in the bucket, but spending money we don't have just doesn't sound right to me.... so maybe put it towards the debt.
I think they should either have to pay for their own party or none is ever given on the second term. It seems like a waste to me. But it's too late for this time.....the money is already spent! Nice thought though!

one of the many wastes of money by our government......
i would have no problem with them donating the ufnds!
completely off the wall-if the money is already spent, why don't they donate the food and all instead? if the plans are already in motion, what about inviting homeless people from our country to attend? skip the rich govt officials and all the beauracracy.... do somethig USEFUL with the "party" instead.
there are so many things i could say, but i just don't think it's worth the time and effort because i dont see anything changing any time in the foreseeable future no matter what.......

the gov is so greedy they will prob be heartless and use it for their own personal gain instead of helping others.

A lot of people will say that they want to donate money to the relief effort as usual to make themselves look good. But when you think about it, America is a nation of consumption, greed, selfishness and many other bad things. We won't do it. We'll party as usual, heck actually even more than usual knowing Bush.
