View Full Version : Navi DVD 3.40 shipped today
EXLNavi 12-29-2004, 05:09 PM Got an email confirmation that ver 3.40 of the Honda Navi DVD that I ordered shipped out today.
So pretty soon I'll have updated map coverage and anything else they throw in there. Woohoo!
princess 12-29-2004, 05:48 PM Looking forward to the report.....:)
billinaz 12-29-2004, 08:08 PM 3.40 came with my 05 Coupe.
I was hoping it was an older CD because my subdivision is not in there.
I leave breadcrumbs everytime I leave my house and when I return.
Now I have to wait until the next release and hope they have my street on there.

Color me confused.
Are you saying the older disc had your subdivision?
billinaz 12-29-2004, 10:15 PM No, this is my first CD. It came instaled in my new 05 coupe.
No street on the CD for where I live.

i believe he meant that he hoped he had the older version and that this new version that came out would have his street, but it turns out he already has the new version and it still doesnt have his street on there.

Ah I see.
billinaz, I believe you can send an email to customer service (it's listed in the little "navigation system" booklet you get with the car) asking them about adding your subdivision.
Or, you can just go to Navteq's site directly at http://update.navteq.com and submit an update. They then do a field survey and take the necessary action. The changes are put into the navteq database which is used by many Navi system manufacturers and mapquest.
They do appreciate your feedback. I've sent them a few corrections for streets that have changed here in New York, like new One Way signs etc. They usually get back to you in a few months when they've done the site surveys and updated the database.
princess 12-30-2004, 07:05 AM That's right, they don't know what they're missin' unless someone tells them!
The few places out of date here haven't been a problem. We have a bunch of new area, but not really needed..... well, except once..... I couldn't even find the end of the street they put the new Kaiser (hospital) on. My Doc had moved there & the first visit was a challenge. Luckily I didn't depend on the NAV. ;)
billinaz 12-30-2004, 07:21 AM Thanks! I just submitted my request for the addition.
EXLNavi 01-05-2005, 04:35 PM I got the DVD today (it's a looong way from Kalifawnia to New Yawk...).
Started up the car, went to the trunk, removed the old disc, then put in the new one.
Went back in the car, it read the disc then rebooted. Then it had to re-acquire the GPS signal but not for as long as if you'd reset the battery.
From what I can see, nothing other than coverage is new. I tried the new addresses I submitted and they were there. I haven't gone exploring yet so I can't say how much more coverage was added, but it didn't screw up anything and that's a good sign. :D
billinaz 01-05-2005, 04:43 PM I triple checked it. I have the track offroad enabled... but still no breadcrumbs.
I have to find the right email address or phone number to ask about it. The manual says it should be there....
princess 01-05-2005, 04:55 PM Time to call.....assuming you drove around after clearing them out.... Since your neighborhood is usually "off road" I think you'd have to go out where is reads, then back in. But it sounds like something's wrong. They may assist you in rebooting or something.....
I can tell you, that the ones you get on the phone are only reading the manual, from my experience.....so dealing with the navteq people would probably be more fruitful than Honda's customer care....
EXLNavi 01-05-2005, 10:04 PM Well the Nav manual says Navteq is only for the map updates. So if your nav isn't working up to snuff you may have to call Honda customer service.
I agree that something doesn't seem right. But also be aware that you have to go for a certain distance offroad before bread crumbs show up.
carbonavi 01-07-2005, 07:59 AM Question to EXLNavi
Did you find any new features on the DVD Navi you just bought? I wonder if it has new cool features like the one for new RL, i.e. restaurant guide and such.. That will be cool
Any significant change to the map coverage ?
Sprocket 01-07-2005, 10:00 AM And how did you go about ordering this? Cost?

No new features just updated coverage.
I definitely notice more coverage and some routes are calculated differently now. For example, they now have the gateway mall close to me (off the belt parkway, exit 15 i think) and the surrounding roads. They also now have the street addresses on my g/f's street.
Unfortunately there's nothing like what the RL has, sorry.
There are still a few things that I hate, such as the excessive use of U-turns (they're mostly illegal in NYC) and switching from main roads to service roads on roads such as Woodhaven Boulevard (also illegal).
The cost came up to about $207 with tax and shipping. A bit steep. I'd only recommend it if there are gaps in the maps that you need updated.
datamac 06-16-2005, 10:08 AM I have the older version Navi DVD my Honda is 2003. Of course of driving over to the new Gateway Mall almost every weekend there is solid white line of bread crumbs. How do you get rid of this ?
princess 06-16-2005, 01:42 PM Welcome, datamac!
You can turn off "bread crumbs" in the setup.

Hi datamac!
What princess said. Also, the new DVD has gateway mall in it.
I'm not too far from you (Woodhaven, Queens).
princess 06-17-2005, 07:03 AM Ummm, I wonder if it'll have our blanks spots too!? Is this the one all the '05's have? If so, I may have to visit a lot to check it out before buying one.
:dunno:
datamac 06-17-2005, 10:04 AM Thank Princess I will try that.
datamac 06-17-2005, 10:17 AM Hey.. not too far at all I live in Canarse Brooklyn just off the Belt Parkway....
I am curious to know what diffrence you see in how the route are calculated in the new version. I have seen it do some really silly routes plotting when driving through Brooklyn especially on Eastern Parkway and on Kings Highway (if you are familar with that area of Brooklyn). Even when there is a direct straight line to the next street and it's not a one way St. the Navi system wants to take you around the long way, then when you ignore it and drive the direct path anyway, it recalulates correctly... Has anyone noticed this ?
psyshack 06-18-2005, 09:45 AM I have a wife navi system. It talks back alot. North is left, West is right. Maybe I need to boot her?? Aw reboot :) And where would I stick that DVD??? The trunk you say? Wheres the eject button I need to get her updated :naughty:
princess 06-18-2005, 11:42 AM :lmao: :lmao:

haha yeah I notice this too. But that's a problem with all route calculation software, including mapquest.
I did notice that some of it actually got a bit worse, and some got better. However my #1 pet peeve didn't get addressed, which was the navi system's insistence that to cross manhattan I go through the midtown tunnel. I don't want to pay the toll! I think using the midtown tunnel is a waste if I'm going to new jersey, i'll just sit in a bit of traffic at canal street and take the holland tunnel.
gatrhumpy 09-22-2006, 05:08 AM I want to make sure that this one address is on the new DVD. I have the Orange DVD version 3.30F, and this address is not on there. Can someone see if 568 Millhouse Ln. Orange Park, FL is on the new Orange DVD, version 3.5 or later?
