I do feel like my I4 feels boggy whenever its coming up on changing the oil. Is it me or do others feel this? The engine just feels sluggish, then when i change the oil it goes away up until the next oil change.

I have not experienced this, I run only synthetic oil.

How often are you changing?

Do you do drive under harsh conditions?

It could be a placebo from looking at your reminder sticker..

im using regular dino oil, not sure about switching to synthetic as i have 76k and i change every 3k miles since i bought it at 60k. I drive under normal conditions, city/highway driving, no dust etc

I switched to Synthetic at 115,000 (71000 miles). The dealership told me it would do no harm to the engine if I made the switch (the manual says its okay too).

I never noticed the car getting boggy at or near the end of the interval (dino or synthetic). Now since I learned of the MM in my 08, I don't make an extra effort to change the oil every 3,000 miles in my 04 now. In fact, I will stretch it out to 5,000 miles. If its okay in the newer version, it must be okay in my 04.

you probably didn't follow the break-in process.

I get an oil change every 3,000 miles. Try that.

Can you explain the break in process? I bought mine used with around 60k. I change mine every 3k as well. Im thinking its maybe the weather i noticed that when its humid out then it doesnt run as good as when its cooler, which probably explains it.

Thanks

Oh by the way, i may just go ahead and switch to synthetic, im running synthetic on all my other vehicles.

I notice that when I am getting close to the 5k mark on an oil change, the engine requires slightly more persuasion to get to redline. Other than that , 82K+ and no sluggeshness from idle to 4k+ on the tach.

Flame suit on.

They make the white space on the tach for a reason. I will use it all given certain conditions.

BTW: car still purrs like she did when she was new.

I note a difference in the harshness of the engine in the last few bits (<20%) and kinda silky behavior after the oil change.

Hi 04AccordCpe..

There is no possible way, that oil with a maximum of 3K miles usage, is going to effect your cars performance... :dunno: It just won't happen..

Diesels polute their oil 10 times faster than petrol engines, but I don't know anyone here (UK) who change their engine oil at less than 5k intervals. Diesel or petrol.. I change mine at -- Diesel ZX 5k ... Honda petrol at 10k with no ill effects whatsoever..:)

I suggest you look elswhere for the cause of the problem you describe..
