i have the same problems like everyone else does with this car, over rough roads, something in the trunk/rear of the car rattles, tried tightening the trunk lid, weather stripping the C pillars, trunk springs, trunk latch, rear bumpers and the sideskirts, still nothing..... next i will try the washer thing by the strut bolts, but it seems pretty tight to me, so i doubt that would do anything..

Just to be fair to Accords - a lot of cars rattle....I drove a new Rav4 V6 couple of weeks ago, that thing feels cheaper, sloppier and rattling is built in the design. When I drove my gen7 after it felt better.
My mom's 01 Sentra is a rattles galore. It rattles at every seam...Driving that is liberating :) You basically stop caring :)

...and yes the weather stripping needs Shin-Etsu :) or that new procedure that was in the service news recently.

Mine doesn't rattle unless I don't have my passenger seatbelt put away properly when not in use.:dunno:

I have a rattle in the rear decklid. Once my foot heals,I am going to try the DIY that was posted on here for that.

I was driving my 2006 Ody for a couple weeks because it was easier on my foot. Yesterday, I drove my Accord, and it is QUIETER than my Odyssey.......:(

Shin-etsu grease got rid of most of the rattles on my 06. I used it on all the door seals and also the trunk seal.

Things I've found so fare...

-- Buzzing rattle sound from rear. Cause, License plate rattles agents trunk. The solution, I used rubber feet, with self-adhesive. Fixed it? Sorta, better, takes a bigger pothole to buzz.
-- Hevy knocking sound from rear. Cause, Jack bottle, rattles in it bracket. Solution, Removed, and reposition and reinstall, I used the tool to lift jack (car), to tighten jack in its bracket. Fixed it? Yes. Came lose once. Someday, I will find some rubber pieces to line the bracket to make sure it cant loosen and rattle...
-- Light rattling, inside rear deck. Cause. I found that when you remove ANY panels that uses the clips that slips over a peg, to hold the panel on, that the clip dos not hold, all that well any more. My solution (I forgot to perminetly fix this one), was to reposition the REAR Center Brake light. It seems that any panel, I have removed, now has a tendency to creak and rattle. Think, panels removed to replace AC Air Filter, add my cheesy, 12V power for my HAM radios (Passengers fuse box, Door sill), and of course, the center brake light. Repositioning it, worked sorta, still rattles occattionly. I need new clips as one fell through to the trunk, and is MIA...
I am not rattle free, yet. At least I know the above sources...

Hope this helps...

My glove compartment (2006 EXL). Like to rattle. My bro figured it out. Its not the door but something inside the handle mechanish. If fact, if you slide the latch to the right, no rattle.

I have 3 rattles/creeks (at the moment):

1. Door seals (dealer will address it tomorrow)
2. Drivers side seatbelt buckle (dealer will address it tomorrow)
3. Headliner (the warmer temperatures have suppressed it for the time being, can't do anything for now)

I had a rear deck rattle, but a layer of HustMat killed it.

The 6st gen is still worry free.

Neither of my cars have any rattles whatsoever.. So don't just accept rattles as "normal".. :paranoid:

Enlist the aid of someone young with sharp ears, trace the source, and secure whatever it is that's moving. It will require time and patience, but it is worth the trouble in the end.

Why can't he be??

Pete knows his stuff. Engine performance, suspension, tires, RATTLES...the list goes on. I've learned plenty about my car from his very detailed posts and PMs.

Headliner creaks also.
Drivers side windshield pillar piece rattles after windshield replaced. I have taken it off several times and tried to reposition or fix with not luck.
I also have a somewhat noticable clunk in passenger rear over bumps. Might be the jack fix.
Other than that, no other notivable issues.

...you guys don't know anything about rattles, believe me!!
...we just got back from a month in Italy, you want to hear a car rattle, you ride in anything in that country, particularly in Rome - the roads are HORRIBLE, if you want to call them roads, there basically cobblestone paths. We rode in everything, Mercedes vans and sedans, taxis that were Fords, Renault, Citroen, Fiat, or Alfa Romeos, and large double decker buses, they all rattled and shook so much we thought they were going to come apart at the seams...
...when we got back I took our Accord for a drive to the grocery store and it sounded so quiet and serene I truly felt amazed by it - I won't complain about the roads here any more, at least for a while...
...bottom line in all this is it really does make a difference in the kind of roads your driving on, any car will rattle and squeak given the right conditions...

cheers,

I enjoy finding liars like HondaPod, Pilot4Life, Accord!=], Accord4life, and people like that and smashing their hopes and dreams in life.

I hate liars and really do enjoy exploiting their weakness at life.

Nah...I really enjoy the people here (for the most part). Most other forums are so large that you just feel like another peon in the midst of posts.

I like it here.

What's your reason :D?

Put a BTA8100 8" amplified Bazooka Bass Tube in the trunk. Found that would cause the license plate to rattle A LOT!

Put a Dynamat license plate pad on the back of the plate, no more rattle....

lol, bass will do that. I never have the heart to add any more bass to the sound systems in my cars. I would always prefer fewer rattles to more bass, that's just me though.

Man, I wish I could get rid of the rattle around the driver's side window. It drives me nuts - particularly after a car wash. It must be the weatherstripping around the window, because if I apply a bit of silicone spray to it, it's gone until the next car wash. I've had the dealer apply the anti-squeak tape to the door weatherstripping as described in the one service bulletin, but that doesn't seem to have an effect on this problem.

Well, I started off with a fairly rattle-free car until I put my system in (nothing fancy just a pioneer 12" w/ directed 800w amp). 2 weeks after doing the install I noticed more and more rattles in between songs when it was actually quiet.

So...I invested some $$ in 100sq feet of FatMat and 6 1'x1' of adhesive felt paper and now I'm almost rattle free again. I've still got my driver's side vanity mirror that rattles from WITHIN the visor...oh well. It definitely sounds much better.
