Accoding to car and driver:
07: 0-60-8.1 (166hp) Sweet!
08: 0-60-8.2 (with 190 hp and the extra weight)
07 1/4 mile: 16.4 @85
08 1/4 mile: 16.4 @86
In the short take of 08 4 cylinder C&D stated that steering precision is lost from 07.
Has the accord gained what most accord owners loved about the accord in the first place.
Just right size.
I feel its becomimg a buick.
I'm glad i bought the 07 but looks like my first and last Accord.

are those auto or manual times? I want to assume its auto for both as 16.4 seems about right for what I think the auto would do.

All, acceleration times are for 5spd auto equipped vehicles.

By the time you'll be ready to replace your Accord, there'll be another new Accord, which may suit you better. It does seem that as time has gone on, Honda (and Toyota for that matter) have slowly increased the size of their vehicles. I think much of that is attributed to their target market. It seems that Honda wants to keep selling Accords to the same people that bought them a decade ago. Those people are 10 years older, and their tastes have changed... so the design of the Accord has changed to fit those tastes.

Like many have said before, in order to really attack the extra weight, Honda will have to actually add a measurable amount of torque.

There's a very good reason why the Accord is the size that it is.
It's to show that families don't need gas guzzling 5 passenger SUV's to get the job done. Especially when they're the families that don't use 4WD, Towing etc. I've even seen some Mom's give up their Odyssey's for them because they only have two kids. The 08 Accord is now a size where 4 or 5 people could comfortably take a long road trip and not feel cramped. The 7g is good for 4, but the 08's width makes the 5th passenger feel a lot less cramped.
The Accord changes, just like every car, to suit the people of its time. In the mid 90's, the Accord got smaller than its predecessor because driving dynamics were ahead of interior space (5th gen). That's what people wanted apparently, and the car sold like hot cakes. Now, it looks like people want big family sedans again (think 60's-70's) and they're selling better than ever.
Oh and about this 'slower' thing... who really gives a damn? Lets be honest. Why would anyone buy an accord, especially a 4 banger for its 0-60; more-so, who cares about 0.1 second. :dunno:
HP figures don't make 0-60 Times. TQ figures do, and if I remember right, they're pretty much the same.

I think the lighter weight helps the 0-60 times.

Well unless the cars were tested under the same conditions I would say that 0.1 seconds is well within the margin of error that you're going to see. And there is no way that anyone here can tell the difference between 8.1 and 8.2 seconds in the 0-60 dash. The fact that the '08 was slower 0-60 and yet trapped 1 MPH higher in the 1/4 mile, while weighing more, certainly indicates that it has more horsepower.

Umm yeah and from a performance standpoint both are awfull...Again not what the car is designed for...and you cant feel .10 in a 0-60.....
If you want fast 0-60 or 0-100 etc.. go buy a 2k9 ZR-1 ..
8.1 8.2 7.1 all varying degrees of slow...
the weight is working in your favor...Usually on a 1/4 mile the rough formula for weight is Every 100# equals .10 in the quarter... So 1000# ligher car all other things technically being equal the car would run 1 second faster..
Im not typing this in defense of my purchase.. The 0-60 time and sttanding 1/4 mile was not a factor in buying an accord...LOL
I might understand the argument SLIGHTLY if you were talking 1 sec diff in the 0-60.. but .10 (60mph) yet yeilding a slightly slower 1/4 mile time.. the difference there could be the weight of the guy doing the test, track prep, wind, barometric pressure, etc etc..
