View Full Version : almost done!!
princess 01-03-2005, 11:10 AM I'm down to the last 32.18 owing on my car!!! We've managed to pay it of in 16 months!!! Sending a bit extra when ou get the low interest sure helps!! (OK, sometimes a BUNCH extra!!)
She's almost ALL mine & not AHC !!!
As soon as I get the newest statement I'll call for the "payoff" & send it. By my estimate it should be 32.18..... but you never know.... they seem to add fees for this & that.... Whatever it is, it's only that much away from mine!!!
:D :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: :jumping: :jumping:
feferic 01-03-2005, 11:45 AM *is jealous* Three more years for me :(
princess 01-03-2005, 12:12 PM Well, I also had a nearly 18K trade in....:D
feferic 01-03-2005, 12:50 PM Much better than my $300 one :)
princess 01-03-2005, 01:27 PM Your trade in was 300? What was it?
feferic 01-03-2005, 05:01 PM 1990 Dodge Daytona ES Turbo with 127k miles on it...
VTECaddict 01-03-2005, 05:29 PM wow, i bet a 90 civic with 127k miles on it would have gotten you close to $3000 on trade in. welcome to the world of Honda resale value. :D
princess 01-03-2005, 05:29 PM Ah, now I understand.....
I was really happy that I got about 2K less than I paid after driving the '02 for 2 years! Sure helped! I'm not good at the haggling they expect. If I think the price is fair, I pay. If not, I leave. They offered the '03 for what I figured to be paying, but then trucked it up from Santa Maria for free & gave me the Civic hybrid for the weekend that I was waiting.
I was proud of the fact that a few days later my '02 was on the lot. It just needed a quick bath from dust. It wasn't even dusty on the inside or under the hood. I didn't look at what they were asking.
Our daughter got 1K trade in on an '82 Accord sedan with 365K on it! I was surprised! She was buying a new Civic at the time....
lbjgh 01-03-2005, 07:32 PM Must have been another Honda... if it was a Chevy you would have got 5K! :D

anysia 01-04-2005, 05:13 AM congrats princess!!!! soon she'll be 100% yours!!!!
yep honda resale kicks some major butt!!!! even in fair condition after my accident mine is still worth 15k as a trade in! that is only $4700 less than i paid for it in june brand new. not bad considering everything it's been thru! let's see, a comparable $19700 chevy would've been lucky to be worth 15k the day i drove it off the lot!! ;)
only 4 more years for me.... :lmao:
princess 01-18-2005, 10:37 AM I got my title!!! She's ALL MINE!!!:jumping: YIPPEE!!! Honda Finance didn't make me pay that last 32 dollars.... maybe I sent the last payment in early enough that it would've been other charges or something.... All I know is the title is here & I'm a happy camper.....driver..... No more car payments!!
We already own the Pilot, so now all we have is a mortgage...... which being in CA still has us in debt to our eyeballs!

princess 01-18-2005, 11:00 AM Maybe when the nephew & family come for a visit tomorrow we'll have a party.... they don't need to know it's reason!:D They can assume we're just really happy to see them!
Um, I'm going to do that.....
We just did the grocery shopping last night, so there's lots of choices for food.... now dessert.... he's a choc-a-holic like me.... that should be easy..... or maybe rootbeer floats.... I haven't had that in ages!
OK, we'll have make-it-your-self tacos (I have crunchy & soft shells already)..... & floats (I have orange & rootbeer & vanilla bean ice cream)..... & music...... I need to work on a playlist & use the computer as a jukebox.....
RTexasF 01-19-2005, 05:18 PM Princess,
Congrats, congrats, congrats! I also had a good trade in but due to the "Christmas present" I told you about earlier, it looks as I'll pay it off in 3 years instead of five. That will suit me just fine.
I'm happy for you, way to go!
EXLNavi 01-19-2005, 05:34 PM Congrats!
Do they keep the title in CA when the car is financed?
In NY we get the title even though the car is financed. It just lists the lienholder.
feferic 01-19-2005, 06:31 PM In Nebraska - I get a copy of the title - the orginal is at the bank.
Three more years and I'll get mine :)
stiller fan 01-19-2005, 06:36 PM hahaha, i've had mine for three years... :D
princess 01-20-2005, 08:37 AM Well, no, you do not get a title with a lien holder. Sometimes when it's paid off the lein holder will just send you a signed title that you have to take to DMV to change to ALL yours. That's what the company did where we had the boat financed at... we never bothered taking it in..... We used to call it a "pink slip"...it really was PINK. Then they went to a pale rainbow watermark effect.... kinda like gov. checks. The one for the Accord is now back to pink..... so now I guess we can go back to calling them "pink slips"....
In the 60's, when my MUCH OLDER brother was a teen, they raced for pink slips.... you lost your car if you didn't win.... but usually only if the winner was mean. It just meant you were serious. He never kept them. He won with a porche powered bug! It was called "lonemoon" since it was the only one around..... no one beefed up bugs! We happened to have a family friend that knew German made cars inside & out..... It even had "moon" rims!
Anyway, the AHC sent in the papers to our DMV & now I have a title with no lien holder! :)
You do get the registratraion with a lien holder on it, which is good for most everything except selling it. This makes buying a financed car from someone else so much fun. We've had to meet sellers at the AHC office about 50 miles from here, with cash to pay off a car to get the title. The last one (the Civic for my mom) we just trusted him to send it all. He did, but AHC had the wrong VIN on it & it had to be all redone. It took my mom weeks to register it where she lives!!
How long does it take to get the title from Honda Finance after you send in the last payment?
I sent in my last payment 3 weeks ago, still no title.

accord_boy66 04-04-2005, 08:25 AM supposedly 4 years and 2 months to go for me...but I think I will do it in 2 - 3 more...am paying much more than what is required from AHF...
Btw, do you guys know the rules in Illinois?? Will I get a copy of the title?? Anybody buy from Honda on Finance in Illinois??
Thanks :notworthy
accord_boy66

princess 04-05-2005, 08:07 AM Our's also took about 3 weeks or so... I don't really remember.
Welcome, luke & congratulations on owning your car outright! :D
Accordtx1 04-05-2005, 10:24 PM I have 4 more on mine, but I will get it done in 2 1/2. I like making two payments a month... hard on the pocket book now but better in the long run... :)

What kind of interest rates did everyone get from AHFC? When I bought my '04 last April, I got a 3 yr loan @ 1.9% (car was purchased at $300 under invoice). I had the cash to pay for the car, but when my money market account (with ING) was paying over 2% and is now @ 3%, I'm coming out ahead on the deal!
If anyone making accelerated payments on their car loans also has outstanding credit card balances, you're probably better off paying down those credit cards than rushing to get the car paid off...just some friendly words of advice :)
princess 04-09-2005, 06:20 AM Good point. Our's was 2.9 % for 5 years. We paid it off in just over 1 year. So us it was it was cheapest way since we didn't have the cash available & wanted it right now. The Pilot was all cash. I don't remember exactly what the interest was, but using our money WAS the best way. :D
anysia 04-09-2005, 07:34 AM yep, i pay extra on my car loan because it is actually the highest interest rate i have at 2.9 for 60. ;)
i also pay a little extra on student loans because that int rate changes and can go back up at any time....
other than that nothing else with int accruing.
but cc debt is usually the best to pay off if you have any!
My loan was also for 3 years and 1.9% when I bought my 04 Accord last March. I just got tired of writing checks every month and wanted that monkey off my back, so I paid it off in a year.
