there is a muffler in the center of the exhaust system, before the pipes split in two. it is a pre-muffler. people are cutting them out and welding in straight pipes.

this makes a difference. people say it sounds more 350z ish, only different. think about it, you have a muffler before your rear mufflers, then you cut that out.

i wouldnt go as far as 350z ish...maybe in person its like that...to me it sounds a hell of a lot better than stock though.....im going to see if my dad will do it to his v6....

and i wonder how it would sound on the I4 coupe? hmm maybe ill do it too haha, worse case i put it back the way it was

on a side note: one of the (imo) best stock exhaust setups was on my dads 05 pontiac grand prix GTP....just a slow take off that thing sounded amazing for a v6...it was like a low rumble gurggle type of thing

can this be done on a I4

depends on I4 exhaust setup. go to v6performance.net, go to 8th gen, go to performance and look at all the pre-muffler threads. one has an image of the underside of the v6, check where the premuffler is and try and locate the same on yours.

I'm a V8 guy so any V6 or I4 with an exhaust mod sounds "funny" to me. Guess old dogs really can't learn new tricks.

At least you won't have a hot water heater hanging from your rear bumper.

thats the one. careful tho, the pre-muffler is not the circled item, it is the one to the left of it, dead center.
