Has anyone else noticed a funky burning smell whenever you hit the gas and floor it?

I've had the same on my Civic, but it kicked in when I was going at higher rmps for extended periods (like 2-5 minutes). My 8th gen immediately starts smelling funky and its gotten me a bit worried. :paranoid:

How long have you had your accord? Because I noticed that same smell or a about week after I bought my accord.

But I believe it's coming from the exhaust being used for the first time. I remember when I added the TRD Sports Muffler to my tC and for about a week I got that weird smell.

After the driving your accord a bit; park it and go out a smell tailpipe area and see if the smell if coming from there...

i have tha same smell...and so does my moms '06 CRV (26k) my Accord has about 19k

Well I've had it just over a month now, and every time I gun it it starts smelling funny. I'm somewhat worried that oil might be leaking and burning or something similar.

Actually I just came back from a long drive today and I noticed that smell too. It's enough to actually make you sick right; enough to give you a headache if you have the windows down right?

So I pulled over and lifted up the hood while the engine was running and I'm not smelling it from the engine bay nor do I see any smoke from any oil leaks. I don't think there's any internal oil leaks because you would see smoke from the tailpipe. I think the smell could be from the brakes or brake pads.

OOPS never-mind that weird burning smell I smelled was actually Universal Studios fire that happen this morning which has the whole valley smelling like electrical fire.

This is very normal. It should go away once you totally break in the engine. Its the new parts of the engine breaking in. thats why when you revved it it smelled like burnt plastic. The more you rev it for awhile the more rapidly the smell will go away. After the first 1000 miles it went away for me.

LoL, seriously you sure you guys not smelling the cat getting hot, it tends to make odd smell sometimes.

either way I doubt there anything wrong, if it was oil you would know, the smell of burning oil is very distinct

I had the same smell, and I only have bout 600 miles on my 08.... but it got alittle better as it ages... should go away like the guy above said after 1000-1500 miles

I use to have to smell until i did my first oil change and went with royal purple, i can barely smell it when i open the hood after driving, its just the oem oil your given

Our accord has the burning smell after going up steep hills... but its a 91... :(

i have the same smell at times when i punch it but i have like 16k on mine... weird!!

Have you guys ever rubbed your hands together really fast and smelled them afterwards? Smells like sh*t right? (or is it just me?:paranoid:)

Well it is the same thing with your engine. It is just the engine components getting extremely hot from rubbing on eachother. If you dont like it, close the air circulation and all should be well.:thmsup:

Were you behind a Camry? Seriously if you are in traffic it might not be your car.

I've noticed that when going up steep hills, pressing the Recirculating Air button helps keep the smell out altogether. The same cannot be said when the windows are down. It could very well be another car who's smell is coming in.

its the vtec kicking in and screaming like a b#$%h lol !!!
from my understanding on this subject its from the fuel we are using and how our "CATS" are reacting with the fuel.
but who is to say I know what I am talking about ...LOL

I really do think its oil, because I have floor'd it about 20 times in a row, stop and go and whatnot, not one time did it smell different, its either just oil, or the outside, where you are currently from other cars and environment, ill see if the 2009 Acura TSX does it when my mom lets me try out the paddle shifting, but I don't recall smelling anything on a 06 BMW 550i [Probably irrelevant but meh]

i actually smelt it while driving (after when stopped) too when i had my windows down. wondering if it has anything to do with the brakes because those squeal a bit when slightly depressing on the brakes
