My plan is to gut the factory amp and speakers and put in place a JL Cleansweep, amp(s) and new speakers. My goal is clean sound and decent output around 800 watt or so. I mostly listen to rock/pop so I need nice tight bass, clear treble and strong mid range to hear the bass guitar.

I'm sure I'll have many questions as I go, so I'll just start out slowly.

1) Wiring - When doing a new system like this with JL Cleansweep, will I essentially be getting rid of the factory wiring and instead using RCA type wiring? Which is the best wiring to use?

your not so much getting rid of the stock wiring...more of you are splicing into the factory wiring and actually cutting it in half. what you have to do is cut it in half, take the output from the actual factory radio itself and wire it up to the high level input on the cleansweep. you then take low level rca's from the front/rear/sub output on the cleansweep, to the low level input on the actual amps themself. for the 4channel amp, you will run 4 pairs of speaker wire that the other half of wires you cut off are behind the stock radio so they will run directly to the speakers so you dont have to run a million wires all over the place, that makes a headache and it doesnt look as clean and it will sound the same.

So there is no need to use special wiring like Monster wire or something like that to get get sound? Is there a preferred method of splicing to have a nice solid safe splice?

There is no sub output in the Cleansweep...is there?

correct. only 4 channels. front/rear left and right. I have my 5th channel working off the 3/4 channels going into my amp. my system sounds SO GOOD and it's about half the power you are looking for.

Check the signature block for details.

I might design my system like yours. How much better would you say it is from the factory premium radio?

For the vol calibration on the Cleansweep, is there any noticeable degradation in sound quality if you go lower or higher than 25 using the HU vol control?

dude, my system now vs. the stock system??? its like comparing a $10 alarm clock radio to a bose wave system...its like comparing a moped to a harley....Seriously, you can turn it up very loud and it sounds crystal clear while the bass completely thumps your entire body.

I had the head unit calibrated at 20, but I had to turn my amp gain up so high to get the volume I wanted. The CS volume control would max out before the speakers hit their peak. So by calibrating at 25, I could turn the amp gain down, get less hiss, and achieve higher, cleaner volume overall.

Quick math tells me you can buy everything I have on internet and find a dealer to install ALL for about $1,500.

Sounds great, can't wait to get mine done. I'm going to tackle the job myself. I'm also now considering the Alpine PDX-4.150 amp and Alpine SPX-17PRO component speakers, along with a JL CleanSweep of course. These new Alpines seem to be getting really good reviews, but they are a bit pricey.

Hey dking, I forgot to ask, do our cars use 6 1/2" both front and back?? Is the coupe same as sedan? Also, in the back, do you use the tweeters?

If you want a very slightly used cleansweep for cheaper than new, let me know.

I've got the '08 EX and the cleansweep installed too. I've got focals component 6.5 in in the doors and coax in the rears; a 50x4 eclipse speaker amp and alpine 200x1 sub amp with infinity perfect sub. The sound is awesome. No question it's night and day difference with the CS.

The only problem I'm getting is a humming sound when car is running and everything is off. Any of you have any experience with this issue? Is it related to the noise cancelling system?
