View Full Version : It's that time again....
princess 01-18-2005, 10:34 AM It should've been done BEFORE our trip.... but when checking the levels it was still SOOO CLEAN looking we posponed it.... but this weekend she's getting an oil change. She'll also get the ATF changed too. She's got 10,913 miles on her now. I have very few errands going on this week, so it'll be at around the same when it gets logged into the book.
Now if the weather warms up so I won't have to put on snow gear to wash her, she'll be all clean inside & out soon!!:D
This trip there wasn't hardly any bugs! Yea! I HATE cleaning them off!!! SHe just has a thin coat of dusty-had-been-wet road grime....much less than the other cars we saw along our way! OK, no excuse.... she still needs a bath!
anysia 01-18-2005, 10:46 AM you should see my car right now.... 2 days of driving in slushy/snowy/icy conditions.... it isn't pretty!! :lmao: and i don't think it's going to be able to be washed tonight. single digits or lower outside later! brrr! don't want any frozen doors or anything, so it will sport the salty look for atleast one more day!
princess 01-18-2005, 10:52 AM There's rumor we may see sunshine this week! Maybe we'll be in the 60's & it'll get done!
It may not be FREEZING here....but I don't wash her when it's in the 40's.... It makes my nose run... I hate it when that happens!;) Don't want a snotty car....:D

:lmao:
in time of very cold weather (didn't even see 20 in philly today), i always take it through the car wash, and let the machines do it....does a pretty good job of it too... :) you know, i washed my car two days in a row...yesterday, i washed it cause it was dirty for almost 2 weeks. then, i decided i wanted to go to scranton to drive in the snow (yes, i'm that withdrawn :lmao: ) so, it snowed on and off on the way up, and on the way back (actually saw some snow in the slow lane of the PA TP, but not the fast one though... ::confused: ). so, after i got back , irealzied how salty my car was, but wanted to hold off till payday cause more snow was coming. then, today, my car was grey; you couldn't even barely see the green, unless you looked at the roof of the car....:bawling: so, i washed it again, bringing back it's natural color...:D
now, all this being said, it's supposed to snow tomorrow, along with a nor'easter this wknd (lots of snow=lots of honda-killing salt :bawling: ) i just didn't want my baby to be miserable anymore being dirty...she loves to be clean and sparkling....:D
princess 01-18-2005, 03:51 PM I just can't bring myself to use the car washes.... I want to be in control of what touches the paint.... I won't even let the scouts & groups of kids wash her.... I know, I'm way too picky. I don't have any swirl marks & don't want any.
So if I want her washed, I'd be out there freezing my own butt off.... the 44 we're at today is plenty cold enough.... I went out to pick up the boys & just that few minutes walk (we live right across the street from their school) was enough to turn my nose red & sniffy. My hands even in my coat pockets we all frozen! I've had 2 pair of socks on all day.... I woke up cold & haven't been able to thaw out!
I'll just hope that one day this week is warmer.... 60's would be perfect!:) Some areas closer to the coast are supposed to be 70! It's so backwards in the Winter!;)
When we're 90, they're 65....when we're 45, they're 65. We have such a weird micro-climate around here! Our weather would run closer to what it is in Sacramento, even though we're closer to the bay....
stiller fan 01-18-2005, 03:56 PM try living in pittsburgh for one winter.....with windchills usually ranging from -20 to +5 F.... that, my friend is cold....
44 degrees in the winter? time to open the pool and break out the shorts...picnic anybody??? :lmao: i think anysia would agree on this...along with everyone else that i know that lives in true winter climate in the US. :)
stiller fan 01-18-2005, 03:58 PM if my car were pretty much brand new, i probably would be washing it myself too....but, i have an oldie, but goodie, that i drive around....12 years old this year, making it the "baby" of the family....my bro's 15, and my cat is older than him; she's 20 this year, and still somehow hanging on....not sure how much longer she'll be around... :(
princess 01-18-2005, 04:08 PM I managed to get frost bite on my toes here whe I was a teenager... only me... Four of us went to visit the snow on a whim... after lfreezing my toes, I warmed them up too fast at the car's heater.... they turned balck, but I didn't loose any. Doctor told me that I should never plan to live in Alaska! They ached for years when they got cold. But now they just get cold like everybody else's.
Lesson learned.....plan for the cold before visiting it!!:)
I washed the '86 too..... she was my baby for a long time... I knew every imperfection. Now Prince's '87 & his '82 went through the car washes..... they were just his tranportation....it's different...
Nozzle 01-18-2005, 04:34 PM My car was purchased back in mid-November and I have yet to wash it since the dealership detailed it. I know - that ain't no way to treat a Honda :D
Regarding whether, I can't complain. Up here in Santa Maria, CA, it was about 76 degrees. For us that's slightly chilly ;)
princess 01-18-2005, 05:07 PM That's the stuff we left behind this weekend.....ahhhh, it was so nice to thaw out for a few days.....:o
Our daughter that now lives in Fresno was in Santa Maria.... I really hated the drive down on 101! There's way too much cros traffic to call that at "highway"!! Sometimes we'd take 5 down then cut across on 46 (?) to Paseo Robles. Took more time, but at least you could cruise the whole way!!
Shame on you for not washing your car! In that weather, that would be Honda abuse!!
