The kid's truck blew a head gasket.... so they're considering him taking over the Ody (with the seats out) for work & find a 5 passenger car for her....

So anyone know of a decent older Honda in our area up for sell for under 2K??

I've looked on cars.com. our paper (CCTimes) & ebay & criag's list. I found 2 Civics, a '94 & a '95 that need work. One's well out of our area... the other doesn't say. No phone # only an email. I haven't written yet. Both are "machanics specials". All the way in Sacramento there's a '95 Accord that sounds more tempting depending on why it's so low....

They'll probably be needing different vehicle next year....

For 2k you should be able to find a 5th gen Accord mechanics special that's not salvage or anything.

I've only found ONE Accord, & I really don't want to go all the way to Sac.

I've seen several people wanting nearly 2K for '86-'89! I think they're dreaming!

I think the thermostat went out on the truck & he let it heat up. I loves that old truck & won't give it up..... I think it's an '89 4X4 with a 350 in it. He's replaced the whole drive train! It's ugly & beat up & not much works in it.... but he still loves it. They were going to see about borrowing the old '78 we GAVE away, since it's not being used right now. It now needs tires.... so I'm not sure what they're planning now until they find something else.....

If you see something, please pass it on.... I may have missed something..... they were looking over my shoulder when I was hunting.... (I hate that!)

Found this 4th gen coupe, dunno if you'd consider that a "5 seater." Will keep an eye out, I check CL 5-6 times a night.

Thanks, I emailed for pictures.... we'll see... I've also emailed with questions for the '94 Civic. I haven't heard anything yet.

The '95 Civic was pretty clear as to what happened to it & had the city listed. So Maybe I'll ask for pictures from them too.

Any other specifics? Stick/auto? Coupe/Sedan? Mileage? Saw this, I forgot all about the Legend, they're tough little monsters. Might wanna look into those, many are cheap and some are even low miles.

nice cars (even the old ones) but i know that they are almost twice as much to fix things on that, versus a honda.

i was going to buy a 95 legend myself, until i was told that they are much more expensive to fix.....hence, my accord. :)

Thanks, Benj! There really isn't any criteria... they both can handle MT, but no attitude toward AT. Mileage isn't scary.... they got dad.... the parts don't always cost more....it's often the labor...some parts are actually interchangable...

I guess what I'm saying is Goog Idea! For some reason they slipped my mind & I hadn't even looked.

I am hoping to find a 5th gen. needing some TLC mechanically.... we'd get more car for our money that way!

Thanks, I'll add it to the get more info list.... she's now decided she wants on that her dad doesn't have to get it on the road.... thinks she's a bother... he really doesn't mind.

We're considering a '95 Accord LX, 5 speed. It's only got 150K on it... not bad for an 11 year old car! We looked at it last night & she loves it. The price is a tad above what we planned, but what else is new?! I'll let you know what gets decided.

We also looked at a '91 wagon.... they wanted way too much for it's condition! I guess everybody's gotta dream!

Jacob borrowed a truck, but I'm making him give it back tonight. He's moving his stuff into the Ody. He still wants to fix his old Chevy. The guy across the street from us offered to buy it... but I knew he wouldn't let it go. He's attached to the thing! It's worn out & ugly, but it's his. The boys want him to keep it so they'll still own a pickup. It's a 4 X 4, but he never gets the chance to use that part.

We're limited on parking here... I don't like using up space in front of neighbor's houses. So I'd like to see the truck gone, but I know it's not going to happen!

Now I need to find a roof rack for the Ody!!

After looking & looking, this is what we bought....

It's a '95..... LX 5 speed.... the one she wanted as soon as she saw it... nothing else seemed to do after that!

It's had the hood replaced & painted & the "H" wasn't put on... not even any holes for it! There's a ding in the top of the trunk & back passenger side quarter panel.

The drive train seems nice & strong. The first owner LOVED it & it shows. Bot interior flaws. The second owner wasn't as kind to it. The fron door windows are tinted, which is illegal here.... so I guess we'll have it removed. It has new brakes & tires It has 153K on it. The belts have been replaced with Honda parts.

She loves it. It the same color as the '95 Ody! So they have a set now!

I ordered a roof rack for the Ody from HandA. Hopefully it'll be a ggod one!

He's from Turkey (his wife is a nurse for the USAF & is in Germany now).... he'd dropped the priced from 3800 to 3495.... then we got it for that including taxes & registration plates. He thought it was a '94, but it's a '95.

It's in better shape than he knew....
