When driving over a rough surface (e.g. expansion joint) I am hearing a thud-like noise from the roof area over the passenger seat of my coupe. If I close the sunroof sunshade, the noise disappears. I hear the same noise when I shut the driver's door. Seems to me that the roof panel(s) are not properly secured.
Anyone else notice a similar noise?
By expansion joint you mean like a section of freeway connected by another? If so ill try when i drive home tonight.

Yes, or any other sort of road imperfection that sends a jolt through the vehicle. Some expansion joints are pretty smooth and may not be large enough to cause the noise. I find that it occurs (or is noticeable) when travelling 35-40 mph.
going 75 i never noticed anything, course az has some of the best roads in the country :) (just not enough of them), and my car has.. 150 miles on it
I don't know if we are talking about the same noise, but I have a very annoying thud noise somewhere I believe is coming from the passenger side c pillar... or it could be the same noise... I'll pay attention to see if it comes from the roof. It's very annoying... I'll mention it when I go for my 1st service...

WOW, dude seriously i just posted a thread about this like not even 3 days ago. Yea i've been having the same problem when going over rough surfaces, theres a little tick, sometimes thud coming from the sunroof area. i had to do an oil change the other day and decided to get the rattles looked at as well. my car is still at the dealership but from what they told me they are going to change out the sun shade. to see if ti goes away. and they gave me 2 free oil change for the inconvience, because im only 18 and cant get a loaner car now im car less. LOL!
