is there a remote turn on wire connected to the factory amp on the premium audio system? I need a remote wire to "tell" my amp in the trunk to turn on.

If not...what can I use?

I did some searching and nothing I see (for the 8th gen) seems to fit what I want to do. I do not want the amp on at all times...otherwise I would use the cig lighter or AUX power.

any surggestions?

Isn't there a "switched" power source you can tap into? Actually, I think I read on here that the AUX (no cig lighter in these cars...) is switched power.

yea but if he does that, just like in the 7th gens, he could get bad noise problems when the radio is off but yet the amp is still on.

the 8th gens should be like the 7th w/ powered amplified rear window antennas, there's a wire on the back of the radio that should read 12volts when radio is on, 0 volts when radio is turned off. this is the wire you want to hook up your remote to

i went and got one of those "add a fuse" type plugs and used it where the fuse for the wipers are...works great and no weird noises

i tapped into a ign switched source at the dvd drive. Is a small plug on the left (looking at the back of the drive from the back seat). The wire is purple in color and is very tiny.

well I discovered a remote turn on wire at the factory amp yesterday when I was learning more about the system. The wire is white in color and is located on the connector with very small wires. The amp is right above the passenger fuse box.

You used this and had no issues? I just want to be 100% certain before I have my shop do it. It is going to cost some $$$....so I want to make sure this is right.

My brothers system is set up with the same way. We just spliced into the factory remote wire.

Jay / Foamy...

do either of you have the navi in the car?

If so how does this effect the remote turn on? Does it turn on the amp with the HU off to enable the navi voice? A question that I have been pondering...

yes, I have navi. I only tapped into the remote wire. I didnt completely discount the remote wire from the factory amp. I tapped into the remote wire for my sub and that's all. The navi uses the front speakers. It doesnt affect anything else
