Hey, anyone recommend a good cleaner for the carpet in their car? Mine are getting rather nasty with all the salt and dirt getting tracked in this winter. Thanks!

I'd have my manservant Jeeves handle it, but he said he was too busy cleaning up from when the elephants got loose and trashed the ballroom. So hard to get good help these days.

A lot of the guys on the detailing forum use this or woolite

a good vacuum is a must or go to coin op first and then vacuum them then go back after mats and carpet are dry and vac again

Hope this helps...

I agree. A steamer will get most stains out even gum. Use a strong carpet cleaner and pretreat the stains before using the steamer.

If you just have loose dirt on your carpets, go for a vacumm. If you have stains go for the steamer. You can also you the steamer on your cloth seats, but be careful not over saturate the seats. Also leave the windows cracked for 24 hours after steamcleaning your carpets or seats to allow proper air circulation.

Hope this helps.

When I worked there our powerplant was a 100hp Ford escort motor. Our cleaning wands had 6 jets spraying @ 650psi and vacuum @20psi. We basically used plain tap water, had water softeners on the truck and it mixed with a mild alkaline solution to make the drying process faster. I got a 10yr old coffee stain and body oil buildup on the armrest out of my brother in laws Isuzu with no pretreatment. It also depends on the type of stain, reds, yellows and blues are tough, gum, wax. I would love to do that job again, got to go into alot of place I normally wouldnt have, and did a bunch of celebs sports people's houses.
