These instructions show how to remove the steering wheel (for trim mods), but all the steps are there.

Anyone that pulled the steering wheel did you need the steering wheel puller or did it come off by hand?

I haven't pulled the steering wheel off of such a new vehicle, but I can tell you people have broken their noses from doing it by hand, lol

To answer your question, Yes, you will need a puller which can be rented at most auto parts stores.

Why does everyone say you need a puller? I've pulled the steering wheel in 6 vehicles and have never had to use a puller. Make sure the wheel is centered, undo the nut that holds the wheel on the splines, mark the wheel and splines with a marker for proper alignment, and wiggle the wheel gently and it'll slide right off...

That is exactly why I asked mhadden. I have a GMC Sierra that I was converting to add the steering wheel audio controls. Read up on it, ran around town to find a place to borrow the puller kit from. Finally found a place, got the kit, went to take off the stock steering wheel and as soon as I took the center nut off the wheel lifted right off..... Obtaining the puller was a waste of time. So I was curious if anyone had pulled the SW off a 08-up Accord so they could chime in about whether or not they needed one.

Well, if you have an Autozone near you they could just loan you one :dunno:

It would be helpful if the OP would chime in since this thread is old. As it sits this is all speculation since nobody has said anything about having changed an 08 wheel. I have past experience with other vehicles but not with an 08 Accord. OP, you there?

Just bought the 08+ leather steering wheel as an upgrade for my LX-P from staro0989 on this forum. By the time it arrives, and I can put it on, I'd be happy to make a write up if anyone is really interested. I just printed off the instructions from the Honda website, just like Passat774 posted, so I hope it's as detailed as it looks...

i plan on getting the JDM wood trimmed steering wheel shortly, and this would help out tremendously. although i had a 7th gen sedan i did a coupe swap, let the local shop handle it. $50 bux, they had to install the coupe airbag with it
