First of all, I'd like to say "HI!" to all the members. Just joined the group. I finally got my 2003 Honda Accord EX V6 with Navi last night. :D

Anyhow, I was wondering if it's possible to modify the power door locks to automatically lock once you have started the engine, and unlock when you turn off the ignition swith?

I was thinking of getting a security alarm installed, but I kinda like the security system that came with the car. I guess the other thing the OEM security system doesn't have is the shock sensor. Which is something I can live without.

Thanks for your time.

I kinda like NOT have the "shock" or motion sensor.... no false alarms for people to ignore...or try to! :)

I liked the way JDM Nissans would lock the door when you hit 5MPH.

I'm thinking of making a microcontroller based module for my Accord to do the same. Shouldn't be too hard to do.

But am I wasting my effort if there's something already? I don't like auto lock/unlock with the e-brake. It's not as classy...

My wife decided she wanted the auto lock/unlock feature on the '05 Accord do I had to find a solution...Being an alarm installer, I found an old alarm module and just hooked up the lock, unlock, ignition, hot and ground and it was done. Start the car up, it locks. Turn it off, it unlocks. This can work independent of the OEM sysem. All you need is a cheap alarm which has the auto locking feature. Not really difficult and it shouldn't be too expensive either.

I still don't understand why mine has been doing this from day 1 with no modifications. Just lucky I guess

Maybe your dealer installed an alarm with the lock feature.
