I got the radio out of the dash tonight and proceeded to attempt to run the power wire to the amplifier that will be located under the passenger seat.

I see there are two large wiring bundles going into the firewall high on the firewall which I cannot see from under the dash. There is also a grommet that is between those two wiring bundles that is also to high on the firewall to see from under the dash.

Using the search function I read a thread that mention of running the power cable in with wiring that is going to the fuse box. This was after calling it quits for the night.

Question: What is the best way to run a 8 gauge wire from the engine bay through the firewall. I don't mind drilling and using a grommet but I would like to do it the most correct way. From the top of the engine bay I didn't see any options that seemed suitable to run the wiring.

Thank you for the help, Mike.

on my 04 coupe v6, dead center of the firewall (looking in from engine bay) there is a rubber grommet with no wires going through it. i popped it forward (fell somewhere inside car) and fed a 4 gauge and 10 gauge through it with no problem. i still need to run another 4 gauge which is gonna suck

You weren't worried that the cable might be rubbing against any metal behind the dash? I couldn't see either wiring bundles or that center grommet from under the dash or once the headunit was removed.

I ran my 1/0 gauge through a grommet under the drivers side floor about even with the lever to open the trunk/gas lid about 6-8 inches in to enter the car.
