This is my new Accord I just bought, I know it's not as cool as the 08's you guys have, but I'm only 18 and couldnt bust the bank over a new car. :P
It's completely stock, except I just ordered a cold air intake. I'm just wondering what you guys think I should do for my car? I was thinking of getting window tints, but here in North Dakota we can only have 50% in the front seats, so I dont know how much to go because I don't want the transition to look like an unfinished job. Also, since it is a 4 cyl it doesn't have a spoiler and I was thinking about getting a stock spoiler, but I kind of like the clean look. Also, I was thinking of taking off the Accord badge to give it a more clean look, but Im wondering, do these badges have hooks in them or will it leave holes in my trunk?
Oh and one more question, do you guys know if I get window tints can they tint headlights too, or do I have to buy seperate smoked headlights, becuase I think the car would look nice with a good tint on it and smoked lights.
Yeah, so I'm done and if i get new stuff put on my car ill update with pictures, but with my job now I can only get 600 bucks every 2 weeks, so It's going to be a slow process. :P
Honda247 07-04-2008, 07:36 PM Sweet car. Just don't go too crazy moding ur car.
Osiris_x11 07-04-2008, 07:48 PM Congratz' on your Accord acquisition, arguably one the best lookin' coupes of any generation!
My 2-pence...
Do's:
- after-market wheels
- quality tints
- after-market suspension (ie. coilovers/springs/shocks)
- after-market I/H/E (Intake-Headers-Exhaust)
- after-market front-lip
- after-market trunk-lid deck spoiler lip (NOT wing!)
- after-market head-unit & speakers/amp/sub'
- interior high-output LED bulbs
- cleared-out headlights
- retro-fit OEM HID projectors and plug-n-play HID kit
Do not's:
- tinted/smoked-out headlights/tail-lights (incredibly ricey, not to mention illegal)
- de-badging (rear emblems attached w/ adhesive; I'd black-out/annodize the emblems instead!)
- any sort of exterior lighting/LED's/neon (it's an Accord, not a Cavalier/Neon)
- heavy-ass, cheap blingy wheels (needs no explanation)
- coffee/'fart'-can exhaust (leave that for the ricers/poseurs)
- crazy body-kit (pay for performance, not for looks)
You don't have to do all of those things at once, or even at all. Just a basic guide to keepin' it r-e-a-l!
eruza 07-04-2008, 07:56 PM Yeah, I'm at work right now, and I sit in front of a computer the whole day so I was looking at an M3 Lip for the back and a mugen lip, I think it would look pretty nice. I dont want any fartcans or anything that makes me look too ricey, but I just want to clean it up. Also for suspension I have heard people using the Eibach springs, has anyone tried those and if so are they pretty good for performance?
Oh and thanks for the ideas and the kudos on the car, it is my first car so I'm very happy with it :)
Accordlover 07-04-2008, 08:12 PM If it has an automatic save your money for a new transmission.
No joke.
If it is an automatic, I would not do any racing around with it as there are known issues with the AT's already. My first investment would be to make sure all the maintenance is up to date. There's no point is making a car look good if it hasn't bee serviced.
First on the list - Transmission fluid change with Honda automatic transmission fluid. Don't flush it, drain and refill it. There are instructions on how to do this in the owners manual. Buy the honda fluid from a dealer.
If it has more than 100k, its time to change the timing belt, accessory belts, replace the water pump, spark plugs, wires, air filter, distributor cap and rotor, change the coolant, brake fluid (if its not clear) and check the condition of the power steering fluid. If its really, really dark, change it, and again, only Honda fluid. Then lastly look over everything to make sure the drive shaft boots are all in tact, inspect the exhaust, steering rack, and suspension.
Hopefully the timing belt was already done, as that is not a fun thing to deal with.
Definitely make sure it's maintained before rims and tint!
Looks nice. ;)
eruza 07-04-2008, 08:24 PM Yeah the person I bought it from serviced it with a Honda dealership, and I just got the transmission fluid flushed and had an oil change. It's only at 80k miles but the timing belt has been already replaced, so I am sitting pretty good as it seems. I bought the car because I dont race, I just like to have it be a nice car and to get me back and forth to college. Thank you for the information though!

Cool! Sounds like a good one. If you do have a trans issue its warrantee'd until 7yrs/100k.
The CAI will probably decrease the gas mileage, idk how important that is to you.
eruza 07-07-2008, 05:59 PM does anyone know if 215-40-17 tires would fit on my accord? There are some for sale locally just wondering. It says they're also 4 lug.

"4-lug" tires? :D
The tires should fit the car OK with the correct offset rims.
cforez 07-07-2008, 08:00 PM 215/40/17 is a Civic tire, 215/50/17 is much closer to stock diameter for a 6G Accord. In addition, if the rims are made for a Civic, the lug pattern is won't fit the Accord. 4x100 vs. 4x114.3.
07HondaV6 07-10-2008, 07:22 PM Personal taste is OK but I would avoid pimping the car over. Wierd tints and funky exterior mods tend to be a negative when you go to sell someday, which you will. It's kind of like wallpaper in a house, usually the only the person that likes it is whoever bought it.
I like the idea of investing in some maintenance or setting some cash aside just in case you need a repair down the road. Basic things like tires and brakes can really add up.

I bought my '03 Accord in '03, got stationed at Minot AFB same year. Was there 4 years, now at Maxwell AFB, AL and just got my windows tinted last month. Even thought my car is registered in FL, I know ND will pull you over for anything, so I just ****ed it up :thumbsdow for the 4 yrs. I got 20% on front doors and back windshield and 5% on back doors.
kcsoundguy 07-11-2008, 09:37 PM New wheels and tires would set that car off very nicely. Nothing to ricey just nice and classy. For tint I like 35% all around but if you can only have 50% in the front then I donno maybe 50 in front and a shade darker in the back. Of course when I was your age it was 5% all the way around. I have the mirrior tint on my TL that is 35% all around and I am happy with it. It will look darker if you have dark interior. TL is gray and Accord is black so 35% on the accord will be dark.
Congrats on the new Accord. Very nice ride bro:thmsup:
hondaspeedx 07-19-2008, 06:31 PM I also have an '02 Accord Coupe. For about 6 months. I'm interested in lowering the car and choosing slightly larger and wider tires to fill the wheel wells better. (I'm waiting on the lowering until I find the right size tires. Is there and specific #'s I need to know like offset, etc.? I don't quite understanding tire sizing. Better yet, anyone know of any wheel/rim sites that help you configure the look you want?
Thanks and good luck on your '02! :lmao:
