View Full Version : Just picked up V6-6MT
ssmtsx 07-10-2008, 07:00 AM Just thought I would introduce myself. I just picked up an '08 EX-L V6 6spd in alabaster silver/ebony. :D Originally I had placed an order (6/5) for a belize/ebony 4cylinder 5spd. The wait was killing me so 7/7 I went and purchased the 6 cylinder they had in the showroom. Luck would have it that the belize came in the next day. I paid $27815 OTD ($26,311) though West Broad Honda in Richmond VA. Overall it was an extremly easy purchase. I found them through USAA and their internet quote was actually lower than the USAA member price I was originally quoted.
Im throughly happy with the 6cylinder especially coming from an '08 Camry SE 5spd.
I'll have pics up saturday night after some tint and zaino..
justeddie 07-10-2008, 07:14 AM Congrats! the I-4 are causing a few headaches for alot of our forum members. So going V6 is the only way to go! ... well until all the bugs have been sorted out.
xxDaJackalxx 07-10-2008, 07:15 AM V6 FTW! Congrats and welcome. There is a host of knowledge on this site for taking full advantage of your car's capabilities.
Look forward to your future posts.
Where in NoVA are you?
SatinSilver 07-10-2008, 07:18 AM Congrats on the purchase and welcome! What were your impressions of the Camry SE manual???

If you go through their car buying service they'll give you a printable certificate. You just print it off and take it to the dealership. Keep in mind that each dealer sets its own USAA price. My local USAA dealer was much higher than west broads, but I was given the option to search for a cheaper 'member' price.
I had the Camry for 9 months/11K miles. I originally bought it because I work for a Toyota store and was able to get a pretty good deal. The camry is one of those cars that just shouldnt be a manual transmission. I had the same feelings about the Lexus IS250 I purchased 10/06. Their transmissions are clunky and just plain awful. I was really spoiled with my '04 TSX and I just couldn't get used to the way the Toyota would shift. As far as handling and interior comfort/space it did what it was intended to do. On top of all that when purchasing a stick you cant get leather or nav. I also didn't like that fact that it didn't have VSC or any other type of stability control.
I appreciate all the welcomes and look forward to being a member. :)
MSchu 07-10-2008, 08:21 AM there ya go... The two manufacturers(Toyota and Honda) have market niche similarities, but they vary wildly in end product... this is due to Initial Manufacturing philosophies of there founders IMHO.
I find myself much more in line with the thoughts of Soichiro and Enzo than any other makers.

congrats on the pickup:thmsup:

^^+1:biggrin: Welcome
jang859 07-10-2008, 11:12 AM yeah i don't think there are more i4 headaches...there's just more i4's out there compared with v6-6's (the rarest one).
MySilver_08 07-10-2008, 11:19 AM No "i4 headaches" here, really liking mine by the way, and zero issues!

I ordered an '08 manual 5spd i4 EX-L on 4/17 and the dealer kept pushing my dates back, citing reasons like "we couldn't get the one we said we could but we ordered one from honda" and then the best one "honda canceled the order 2 weeks ago" (which he failed to call and inform me about). On 6/23 I ended up getting the v6 6spd in PMM and baige interior for $26k - only $800 more than the one I had previously ordered (over 2 months later).
All in all it worked out and I love my car, but it sounds like we had the same problem !

pmcjr 07-11-2008, 12:09 PM I too found my dealer's internet price less than the USAA price. I did get my loan thru USAA, however. It is done all on line and was quite effecient. You'll like the V6. Wise choice IMO.
