Hello everyone! I bought my Accord Coupe back in April and have been trolling or lurking the site as some of you may refer to. I decided it's about time I signed up b/c I spend enough time viewing the site as a guest.

My question to you is how do you know when your car was manufactured? Is it on the window sticker (didn't see it on there) or can it be decoded from the VIN #?

Any input would be helpful.

Thanks!

my understanding is looking at the vin sticker in the door it has the month of production... I BELIEVE its also on the window sticker.... but I could be wrong..... anyone want tlo chime in? :)

Thx JamieJam. I believe its not on the window sticker, but i'll double check. I'll have to check the vin sticker on the door...didnt even know we had one on the door, just the one on the upper left part of the dashboard.

I'm thinking a 'VIN decoder' can offer some useful insight.

Only place you can always find build date (month/year) is on a white sticker on driver's door sill (close to the latch bracket). This sticker also has the VIN, hence the 'VIN sticker' reference. It was damaged in my car, so I removed it (along with all other stickers, so it looks clean now).

There's definitely a way to tell the exact build date from the VIN, but I certainly don't know where to look for that info. Maybe Honda's website has a decoder somewhere. Hope the experts chime in. Later.

Sorry to semi go off topic, but,
Eric,
I would go to the dealer and have them call the factoryfor a new one.. there is a bevy of info on that stickerthat is usually not onl useful but used for legalities as well as by the insurance company when they look at inspect or need specific info on the car..... in fla the FHP looks at the vin sticker to verify aspects of the car's identity as well and the vin plate.. check into the legalities....

Thanks for the info. I just checked it out today and saw it was manufactured in March. I picked it up on 4/10.

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't sitting on the dealers lot for a long time:banana:

Just wanted to make sure it wasn't sitting on the dealers lot for a long time...Chances are the longer is was sitting on the dealer's lot, the more you could've/should've saved from the MSRP!?! ;)

I think I did very well w/my deal. Bought the car on 4/10/08 negotiating w/the internet dept.

Sticker w/destination charge: $26,595
Vehicle sales price including destination: $23,027
Total price including TTL (tax is 7.25% here) just a hair under $25K

Osiris how'd I do? I'm just waiting for the "for your reference" comment I've seen you post many times =)

Well, here it is...

For reference: ( :D )

'08 Accord EX-L sedan w/ automatic-transmission
MSRP: $26,495
Invoice: $24,063
Negotiated/discounted price: $23,027

* destination/handling was $635 pre-June, $670 post-June

That's among the best prices that I've encountered for an '08 Accord EX-L sedan w/ automatic-transmission! Great job.

I was shopping around for the exact same model/trim in late April, early May. The best deal I came across was $23,338 in Georgia (another ~$100-$200 could've been knocked-off, I think) and $23,498 in San Antonio (sold before I could even try to negotiate further). I couldn't find another model/trim-level in the desired color in a timely manner, so I then had to 'improvise', lol. . .

Thanks for your opinion on how I did Osiris... I actually got an exl coupe and not a sedan. Dealer was Grand Honda in Elmhurst, IL. Had to do a little bit of haggling w/the internet sales person and the GM.
