Hi,

I have finally found a good clean 07 Accord EXL, and am going to look at it today. Any tips on what areas should I check? This 4Cyl has a clean carfax and has 26,000 miles on it. Don't know exactly what to check in such a new car.

If there is a pre-purchase inspection thread or things to look out for, please point me to it.

Thanks.

Look for vin tags here: all doors, both rear door frames, trunk lid, rear bumper and hood.

Sometimes the fenders have visible tags, but usually they're covered with black trim on the newer Accords.

Look for oil change records, smell the oil cap. Does it smell like oil? Or like burnt oil?

Check out the brakes, get up to 60mph and slow down (exit ramp is good). Is the car shuddering?

Tires - Are they matching? How's the tread? Are they made by a decent company?

Any service records? Look in the glove box and also in the owners manual under the maintenance section. Look for a dealer stamp next to service slots. Note: not all dealers stamp the book, so don't hold that against the car too much.

Make sure the radio code is in the glove box. It should be printed on a white credit card sized piece of plastic.

Is there more than one key? The car orig. came with 3 keys. Two with remotes, one a valet key. The keys are expensive to replace and should be mentioned at negotiations. I would request the seller get you another key if it only has one. It must be programmed by the Honda dealer.

Make sure it has all 4 floor mats too. Good luck!

It's possible that there will be some creasing in the drivers seat. Hopefully the leather will have been conditioned regularly though. If not, its still new enough that you can save it.

Also, the car is still under the 3 year/ 36k mile bumper to bumper warranty and the 5 year/ 60k mile powertrain warranty.

Here ya go (http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=8779). Of course, not everything will apply since your car isn't new, but it should still help.

Just bought an 04 EX-L manual with navigation and black leather. It's very nice, nearly new. ALL booklets, four floor mats, mint condition entirely. 44K.

Already have one! GLX has everything, but I'd go for a W8 sometime:banana:

I got the Accord for $14,500. It was VERY hard to find an EX-L 4-cyl with a 5-speed AND navigation, but alas I did, in black no less.

Will try to buy the car today at dealer auction through a friend.

I will post pictures today if i get it.

After checking the car, I found following issues
1) Center console storage bin lid does not close
2) only one key fob
3) Excessive wear on radio dial
4) some scratches on car

Can anyone suggest a fix for #1?
How expensive is it to get another key?
Can the radio dial be changed? is this excessive wear normal?

Thanks..

Car gone in seconds... at 18,500. I bid 18,200 as my max bid. Regret it.

I think $18,500 for a used 4 banger is way too much. I would say $15k is more fair.

18,500 was wholesale dealer price. Retail will be close to 20,500.

The 7th gen EXL 4cyl are going like crazy in the used car market. I have been searching for one for about 3 months now. Also the 8th gen 4cy EXL s are almost sold out at my local dealers.

V6s are languishing at dealer lots and are bringing less than or equal to 4 cyls at auctions.

Hmmm...interesting. Used Accords are selling strong here in Colorado, V6 or otherwise--and more than 4 cyls generally. It's hard to find any low mileage Accord--they don't last long. Different parts of the country must have different demand.

I got my 06 EX in June of 06 for $18,500. Greatest deal I ever made. Why so cheap? There was slight hail damage (barely noticable unless looking from a particular angle in the sun) and the dealer wanted the cars gone. Only had 30 miles on it and Still running strong at 23,000 miles. Good deals are always around, just gotta really look.

I grabbed my CPO 04 LX I4 5AT Accord w/ 42K back in May for $14.5. Now I can't find them under $15K, although I do see a few on eBay for $12-14K.

There is this one for $12K w/ 47K miles, but it is from the Bronx, NY w/ a prior accident on the carfax.

Yeah, but try and find a clean example in the NE with a 5MT. CT has some highest gas prices in the 50 states, so they are rare. I do see a low mile example from your link out in CA. And it has a 5MT! $14.9 (no-haggle), add the $500 transfer fee, now you are at $15.4, for a I4 LX. :dunno:
