View Full Version : 2008 Accord Acceleration Hesitation??
Instagator 07-22-2008, 02:08 PM Hey
When I put the car into gear (mt) and say i'm going up a slight hill, i'll push the pedal to about 30-50% acceleration and keep it constant at that point - i feel the car kinda have these mini bogs - almost like the plugs are bad or something. It almost feels like its hesitating. This does not occur when I floor it and only happens on hills / inclines etc.
Anybody else notice this?
Thanks
Paul

Doesn't anyone check the "honda factory direct" section, you have to scroll down to see it I know.
Anyway, mine does this too on hills. Something about the DTW it sounds like, seems this bulletin is about reprograming the ECU or something...
Accordlover 07-22-2008, 02:36 PM Do it without your A/C on.
Instagator 07-22-2008, 03:32 PM AC wasn't on...

Shit just checked mine and it looks like it falls under there... Kinda weird since I got the car after this bulletin came out (may 2008).
jang859 07-22-2008, 03:38 PM I got my car after the bulletin but it falls in the VIN range too...
she posted this so long ago, why has nobody discussed it...?
a2shuzy 07-22-2008, 04:46 PM DBW... can't do anything about it .. ;(
VTECaddict 07-22-2008, 07:15 PM uhhh... sounds like you need to downshift.
Instagator 07-22-2008, 07:18 PM uhhh... sounds like you need to downshift.
Uhh been driving manual for 10+ years. Its not HARD to notice it at 4-5k rpm... Maybe I should take your advice and downshift... o.O
jang859 07-22-2008, 09:35 PM It still shouldn't even do it at 2k rpm. its fine to be at like 2k rpm going up a steep hill, you're not going to bog down the engine or anything. on older cars this is smooth, on my newcar it is not so smooth with the DBW now...
Instagator 07-27-2008, 12:26 AM Bah, contacted my friend who is a service advisor and told me that this does not apply to me as its only for the states :S
natan 07-27-2008, 06:33 AM My wife drive 2007 accord 4 cyl SE, which we bought in July 2007 and I drive 2008 accord 4Cyl EX with navi which I bought on 09/25/2007 . I drive my accord to work and take my wife's car on weekends.
From Day1 I can see a big difference in performance. 2008 is a nice car, fully loaded, but it lacks performans of 2007. Acceleration of 08 accord really fills retarded . Engine has to rev to almost 3500 -4000 rpm to accelerate uphill or entering highway, even on a flat surface i can see the difference. I was always thinking that may be the reason in dimentions and weight.
Today I found post on this site
http://www.driveaccord.net/forums/showthread.php?t=20280 and link to this Honda service bulletin posted by Princess.

I checked my VIN and it falls in range from bulletin.
I am planning to visit Honda dillership on Monday. If some one else experienced same problem , post it here.
crivo3 07-27-2008, 10:44 AM I'm assuming this is only a problem with the I4's but I feel some hesitation in my V6's acceleration from time to time. It's not something I'm overly concerned with but when I saw the title of this thread it caught my attention. I often notice it when I really step on it in order to pass someone. It feels like it takes a few more seconds to respond.
