hey everybody!
I bought my first accord last week. its a 2000 ex with 82K miles. Since I don't have the maintenance records from the previous owner, what kind of things should I do? I just did an oil change yesterday. I was thinking maybe the plugs, air filter, drain and fill the tranny. Is there anything else that should be done? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Manual or Auto? Auto, probably I'd do a complete flush. Manual, I'd leave it alone unless the shift quality seems to be kinda bad. It's pretty cheap on a manual though, so you could do it if ya want. Cost me like $17 in fluid and $4 for a pump.
Air filter, just check it. If it looks alright, no reason to change it unless you want a K&N or something.
Cleaning the throttle body comes to mind. Plugs is probably a good idea. Other than that I think you're good for a lot more miles. 105K is the timing belt, water pump. 75K maintenance calls for a coolant flush, that one's up to you. AC filters behind the dash might be a good idea, mine were real nasty.
I don't think our cars need much to run. I didn't do much to mine when I got it, just the normal plugs, AC filter, oil, needed tires too. I haven't done much since. Changed the brake pads without turning the rotors or replacing the brake fluid, don't plan on following the maintenance schedule from now on but I'm expecting this car to last a long time anyways hehe. Anyways have fun with your new Honda, welcome to the family :)

You could also see how much you have left on the brakes.... look at the external belts, if they're looking brittle or starting to crack then adjust your scheduling for the timing belt accordingly. Plan on doing the water pump at the same time....saves labor!
I agree that the changing the cabin filter might be a good idea. I'd change the coolant, if it's old looking then flush it, if not just change it. Neglecting the coolant causes the different metals to oxidize causing electrolysis & you'll get bocked passages over time.
Hi Jakes29:
___How about taking the VIN of your Accord into your local Honda dealership and have them look up its maintenance history? If it has been regularly serviced at a Honda Dealership anywhere in the country, the records should be listed and it will give you a start as to what to consider … If it did in fact have any maintenance performed and at a Honda dealership that is ;)
