Hi everyone,

Just bought a 98 Accord EX 4-cyl with 114k a couple of weeks ago.

Last major service was at 108k, when the dealer performed 90k maintenance (the most complete service), timing belt/water pump change, new tires, etc. I got the records.

Now car has 115k and I'm bringing it to another dealer for service. The service guy said I need the "B Service" and it's going to cost me $90.95.

My questions are:
1. What is included in the B-service?
2. Does my car need the B-service, considering it just had a major one not too long ago?
3. Does the $90.95 sound reasonable?

Thanks very much in advance.

Welcome to the forum!
Some call it an Intermediate Service.
Here you go.....

Princess,

Thanks so much for the list, that's a huge help! :)

Now I think that it's unnecessary to do the B-package, esp since my car had the major service only 7500 miles ago. Looks like A-package is probably enough. Do you agree?

Thanks again!

I never remember when they stopped adjusting valves every 15K. But if your's falls into the not needed years, then the only truely important thing is the fluid (oil) change.

Anyway, since so much was done recently, just get the oil done & don't waste your money. The old rule was 7500 for "minor" or A service, 15K for "intermediate" or B service & 30K for "major" or C service. As I ssaid I don't remember exactly when they stopped that schedule. We still use it for our cars, except we do oil & tranny fluid at 5K, not 7500. We have mixed driving.

Have fun with the "new" car!!

One of the things performed at 108k was adjusting the valves, so I think I should be good on that. They also serviced the A/C, bled and refilled the brakes, transmission service, etc etc.

The oil was also changed midway between 108 and 115k, because the sticker on the windshield is not from the Honda dealer, and it says to change it at 115300.

Looks like oil change is the only thing I need now.

Thanks again. Really appreciate all your help!
