: Heated seat indicator light out

Interesting issue.... I noticed this weekend that my heated seat button, no longer lights up. Not the indicator that it is on (yellow) the orange light for the button. My car is Manual, and I have not seen anywhere how to get that panel around the shifter out. Does anyone know how. Also I need to know if the light is built into the switch or if there is a little bulb or something replaceable without purchasing a new switch. Anyone have any ideas?

I put instructions for removing the center console for 7th gen in the '03 instruction list.... I've been asked this a lot & this way it's there for all.:)

Gurrrr! Not my moonroof switch is out. I guess all of the interior lighting is going to fail at this rate. The car is only 20 months old, of course out of warrenty with 53,000 miles on it. :thumbsdow

WOW! You've sure had more than your share of difficulties!

Do you hear the moonroof's motor, but it doesn't open? Or is it a complete nothing?

Moonroof
How the Circuit Works
2-door
The moonroof is controlled by the moonroof
control unit, moonroof switch, and the MICU. The
moonroof control unit contains the moonroof close
relay, moonroof open relay, moonroof motor and
the CPU.
The MICU supplies power to the CPU and
moonroof switch. Battery voltage is supplied at all
times through fuse 28 to the moonroof open and
moonroof close relays. The CPU uses input from
the moonroof switch in order to provide ground for
the relays. When one of the relays is energized,
battery voltage is provided to the moonroof motor.
In this condition, the other relay provides a path to
ground for the moonroof motor. The CPU and
relays are grounded at G501.
Refer to the Service Manual (Section 22, Body
Electrical) for specific tests and troubleshooting
procedures.
4-door
The moonroof is controlled by the moonroof
switch, moonroof limit switch, moonroof open relay,
moonroof close relay, and the MICU.
The MICU supplies power to the moonroof open
and moonroof close relay coils. Battery voltage is
supplied at all times through fuse 28 to the
moonroof open and moonroof close relay contacts.
The moonroof switch, along with the moonroof limit
switch, provides a path to ground for the relays.
When one of the relays is energized, battery
voltage is provided to the moonroof motor. In this
condition, the other relay provides a path to ground
for the moonroof motor. The moonroof switch and

Moonroof operates normally, It is just the light on the switches are all burning out. SO at night I can not see where the moon roof switch is to close it or open it.

The passenger side Heated seat switch and the moon roof switch.

My prince suggested having the charging system checked....too much voltage could be what's going on....these bulbs should last longer than this!!

Cool is there a procedure I can do with a multimeter? What voltage range should I be looking for?

With engine at full operating temp, at 2000 rpm the voltage should be no more than 15.1 at the battery.

I borrowed a scope. I am 14.2V at the battery, and I went inside the car and I am just over 13v at the interior lights. So everything looks good there. Any other ideas?

Just to make things worse, my Audio-HVAC display module is dark, so I have an appointment tomorrow morning. I tried calling the service manager to see if I can get a mercy (out of warrenty) replacement. Gurrr..... Anyway I am going in armed with service bulletin 04-027.

I heard back from the service manager yesterday afternoon, however I worked really late so I did not have a chance to get back on here. The service manager called the regional (zone) parts manager to get an approval, and he actually said yes! So they asked me to come in this morning to see exactly what radio I had so they can order a new one. I went in, and they said the part should be in Friday or Mondayish. Woo Hoo. I think after this is all done and over with I need to send the dealership service manager a thankyou, and call Honda corperate to express my satisfaction with this dealership. I thought this was really stand up considering I have just under 75k miles.

FYI - On my 2003 EX-L, the Hazzard button and the driver heated seat switch both went dark. The dealer had to special order the bulb for the hazzard switch. :dunno: The heated seat switch came back on after 2 weeks. ????? Other than that, no other problems with lights burning out.

Keep an eye on your audio-hvac unit. It falls under the defective bunch. Do a search for bullitin 04-027 on this board.

You can go into the dealer and talk to the service manager. You might be able to get a goodwill repair, that is an out of warrenty repair. It depends on the service manager and regional parts manager. Be polite but persistant. I got mine fixed for free 45000 out of warrenty.

All fixed, and it looks great. I am going to order the 2 light bulbs that are out now. Princess, can you see if there are any istructions for taking the dash, specifically the area near the moon roof switch apart. The bulb is behind there.

As far as the heated seat bulb, I found the instructions for those here: http://www.handa-accessories.com/accord/03-AUDIOATTACH.pdf

NOTE:

Take care not to scratch the dashboard and related parts.

When prying with a flat-tip screwdriver, wrap it with protective tape to prevent damage.

Adjust the steering column upward.

Remove the screw (A).

Pull out the bottom of the driver's dashboard lower cover (B) to detach the lower clips (C).

Detach the upper clips (D) and a hook (E) by pulling the driver's dashboard lower cover back.

If any of the clips (C, D) securing the driver's dashboard lower cover is hard to detach, pry it with a flat-tip screwdriver.

Remove the driver's dashboard lower cover (A). If equipped, disconnect the moonroof switch connector (B).

Install the cover in the reverse order of removal, and make sure each connector is plugged in properly.

nice, that was super fast, thank you! I am checking with honda on the 2 exact part numbers that I need for the bulbs. I will post them here when I get the numbers. I figure if I am having this issue, others are too.

There is just one screw and about 7 clips holding the dash trim together. Just remove the screw (bottom left I think) and the rest just pops off if you use a little bit of pressure. Just be sure not to flex the panel too much and it would come out straight towards the rear of the car.

1090913 is the heated switch bulb, and 1090911 is the moon roof switch bulb.

On a side note, my passenger side heated seat switch light just went out last night. :(

I've only had my car for a little over a year. :thumbsdow

That's weird....we use the seat heaters all the time....especially this year with all the cold rain... so far, so good. I'm at something like 18K now after the last trip to DL & it's now 31 months old. :dunno:

I was kinda surprised too. I don't even use the headlights that often... It is possible that I knocked something loose the last time I took off the shifter panel (Saturday... More about that later), but it's very unlikely. I guess my car just likes to eat bulbs for breakfast! :D :lmao: My CHMSL burned out before... :dunno:

add one more to the no-light-moonroof-switch to the list...
I called the dealer, it'll cost me $6.80CDN for just the bulb... and of course, no warranty... booo!!

Thought I would drop a note out here about this... looks like its another issue.

My drivers side heated seat switch light went out a month or so ago. The dealer ordered and installed a new one under my Honda Care warranty. Now, the next week I was driving around and noticed my passenger side is out.

Good grief – guess theses only have a 60,000 mile-life to them :(

It will be fixed next time I take my car in. I must admit, this is the kind of stuff I did not expect from Honda.

Just for fun, when I was having issues, I had an electrical engineer put a scope on my car to check and make sure the power was clean. He gave it a clean bill of health. I never did figure out what was causing it, there seems to be no reason other than the bulbs have a short life. Replacements are cheap and it is pretty easy to do. However, I had my driver side low beam burn out. That was another story replacing that was a pain in the but. I was trying to do it outside in the freezing cold. By the time I got my hands into the car, they were sold that they were numb. I could not get it replaced. You have to move the battery or replace it through the wheel well. I ended up calling the dealer and said I would pay them to do it. They laughed at me and said I should bring it in anytime and they would be happy to do it for me at no charge.

So how exactly do you change the heated seat switch light? I pulled off the cover but have not unplugged and unscrewed the gizmo/housing underneath the switch yet. Once I do is the bulb easy to pop out? My passenger side switch light went out but just the high setting not the low.

Thanks.

uvman

The bulb access is on the side of the switch. There is a little circle thing on the side, that looks like a plastic flat head screw. Just give that a spin and it will come out, that is the bulb. There should be 3 per switch. The center is for the switch, the other 2 are for the high and low indicator.

I am having the SAME EXACT prob with my 05 accord..at night all the backlights on all the buttons work in the car EXCEPT for the Passenger Heated Seat backlight and the Moonroof backlight..is this a BULB that can be replaced or is it INSIDE the actual switch/button and therfore requires replacement of the button/swith alltogether??..Please help..Thanks!
