Hey guys. Quick question. I got my magnaflow exhaust system put in today for the 1997 honda accord today. I had to have the shop person cut the resonator pipe and then weld it to fit my car. The muffler and midpipe fit in perfectly. I had got in touch with magnaflow and the exhaust system I got was for my specific car but they couldn't figure out why it wouldn't fit. So my option was to return it and pay 70 or so shipping or just get it altered and installed.
The shop owner only charged me $100 for the whole labor charge.
Anyway when I drove it home, it was fine but then I had met with a few friends and they wanted to "race" and I "floored" on the pedal and after about 1 mile, I started noticing smoke coming from my muffler (quite heavily at times). So I pulled over and opened my hood and small amounts of smoke was coming from the spark wire area but not directly from it.
I then drove it on the highway and it seemed fine but when I got home, I still smelt faint hints of some burning smell but it didn't really smell like oil or anything like that. I didn't recieve any indication that my car was running hot or that my oil level was in the danger level or something.
I'm just wondering if that smell could be because the exhaust is new and the weld is relatively new and excess stuff is just burning off.
Does anyone think it could be something else? Just wondering and worried.
Thanks
