I have a 08 EXL coupe and have found the road noise to be a little much on course concrete sections of highway. Smooth roads- quiet. After owning several Accords I understand these cars are noisy. I think the big problem is those crappy OEM michelins. Has anybody swapped tires and found a difference in noise? I'm looking to keep the same tire size.

^I think so too....I got 8500 miles on her now and I swear my Accord is way smoother now than when it was brand new :D

The road noise dropped substantially when I replaced the Michs with Yokohama Avid VR4s tires on my car. Even my gal noticed the difference which is quite astounding. The Michs get louder as they wear not quieter in my case. I chucked the Michs @ around 31K miles even though they had enough tread to go another year or two. Wish I had done it years before. HUGE difference and a positive step in all areas including wet traction.

If you want quiet, smooth, and some super duper traction, along with an 80k mile tire, I totally say go for a Goodyear Assurance Triple Tread tire. They're about as pricey as the stock Michelin's, but they're amazing tires.
I cheaped out and got bridgestone potenzas'a over these and I regret it. I still really like my bridgestones, but they're not as quiet as I would like.

Yoko V4S dropped my cabin noise levels considerably too

Even on my '05 LX with 15" wheels, replacing the Michelin MXV4 S8's with a set of Nokian i3's made a world of difference. I'm a Michelin fan (getting ready to swap out a set of Pirelli P6's off the Freestyle for some Michelin Primacy MXV4's), but the MXV4 S8's are a nasty tire - wear after 30k miles was horrendous - and loud as could be...

To tilt the scales the other way, I ditched the Michelins early on, which I remember to be satisfyingly quiet and soaked bumps well, and put on Bridgestone RE050A Pole Positions, summer tires, 245/45/18.
The ride and noise over bumps was noticeably RAISED.
But handling and steering heft/feel was commensurately raised as well, so I ain't complainin'.

Riding my first set of nonMichelins in years on my Accord right now. Bridgestone Turanza LS-H's have proven to be very quiet with great ride in some 20k miles so far since last year and wearing hardly at all.
If I were to go to a new set, I'd first go to tirerack.com for some of the reviews...you can get lost for weeks reading them all but in the end you'll become better informed on what's doing well. I'm still prone to go to Michelins but there seems to be some great options out there.

There is much "thinking" that needs to be done here, its pretty well established the oem tires are the route to many MINOR ills fort eh 08 accord

+1 for Assurance series, either Triple Tread or Comfortread will do. Only problem is, they don't come in Accord's EXL size :( 225-50-17
