View Full Version : AUX cables in trunk of '02 Coupe

Hi -

I have what looks like an AUX input cable (red/black) lying unconnected in the trunk of my '02 Coupe. Since I bought my Accord used, I'm assuming the cable comes standard or else previous owner had a CD-changer installed in the trunk. I have the factory in-dash 6 CD changer.

Would anyone happen to know if I can make use of this AUX input cable for perhaps an iPod connection or XM/Sirius radio hook-up? Of course I'm hoping that the AUX cable is actually hooked up to the head unit, although I don't have any mention of an "AUX" button on the head unit itself.

Thanks,

Ed

I haven't a clue what these could be for. It doesn't sound like a stock item to me.

Anyone else that could help here?

It's impossible to know..... it could be for CD's, an amp, or any other added features.... you just never know what people add.... :dunno:

My guess would be that they are left over from an amp that was removed. That is just a guess though. Do the cables have ends on them, is it an RCA type cable? How many wires are hooked up to your battery? If there are two red wires on the battery then you must have had an amp kit installed. Can you post pics? If there was anything installed in the trunk, they would have to have run RCA's and power cables back there.
If they are RCA's then the previous owner may have had an aftermarket headunit, or they may have had a converter installed on the back of the factory head unit.

The only way to really tell that I know of is to pop out the head unit and see what is back there. See if the other end of the cables are pluged in or not.

I am 99% sure it was an amp cable. The only way to tell what it was would be to physically trace it back or try attaching an amp (or even computer speakers) to it and turn it on to see if you get anything.

It is definitely aftermarket though. I have never seen anything stock in any Honda that used RCA jacks for internal connections.

Thanks everyone. I confirmed that it was an amp cable.
