All I can find in the manual is the Amperes, but not the size. Does anyone know what battery groups will fit the 08 i4?

Thanks,

Keith

:notworthy Thanks, but I am also very interested in learning the group size so that if I want to use an aftermarket Odyssey, etc. I will be able to.

Thanks,

Keith

I just bought a red top optima gel battery for my car today. Getting ready for all the extra electronic goodies comming this week.

Thanks that helps. BTW looks like Amazon has good prices on the batteries and offers free shipping and a rebate. Did a search and they seemed to have the best price on the Odyssey.

I hate to resurrect and old thread but did you ever replace your battery? Was it a group 51 or group 24? I just checked a parts list and the I4 supposedly takes a 24. Did the 51 fit?

The 51 should be the one being put in the V6 engines. The I4 has a smaller battery, most expectedly the group 24.

If the group 51 is for the V6 then yes, it will fit with a little modification to the holdown bar or buying a new one altogether. The I4 battery is pitiful at best.

You could say that again. I think I'm going to grab a yellow top battery in hopes that it'll fix my problem.

Group 24 is correct in my situation. :(

Are all the I4 batteries bad? I see like 5 different models for the I4.

I'm honestly not sure. The way everyone is talking, it sounds like all of them are a bit underpowered for our cars. :dunno:

Mine seems fine. No flickering lights with A/C on. I have the 65AH battery since I have the PZEV engine.

I may go to the dealer with this information and tell them that my car is both hard to start and I had dimming headlights before I swapped to HIDs and now they flicker, indicating a severe power draw? :paranoid:

Um. If I stated above the wrong way, then I'm sorry. Any vehicle without OEM HID's should have a slight dim or flicker in their headlights when cold-starting a car with the headlights on. It's merely because your car requires so much more battery power to start the car, than it does to keep it running once it's on. It's the same idea as your car using more gas to start the car up than it does to sit idle. You'll always need more power to get something up and going than to keep it going.

That case does not hold true for my old '07 with the same retro-solutions kit. There's no flickering of the HIDs when cold-starting it.

Then I would say, upgrade the battery. I think the 07's had a full size battery in every model, but I could be wrong. I will probably pick up a larger amperage battery when I get a chance to get around to it. My tail lights will still somewhat noticably dim when the A/C condenser turns on. I don't know what to tell you, but as far as I know, a lot of cars have a slight flicker when cold-starting a car with any type of headlight on.

That's what I was thinking. I suppose a good battery would also help in starting the car, too. :)

It will always help make sure your car starts well, but the A/C condenser problem is just a power distribution part of how the car is set up. The power is cut to the condenser in order to maximize gas mileage when running with the A/C on. I think that has caused a couple more annoyances than benefits.

The PZEV I4 uses a Group 35 battery 440 CCA all other 08 I4's use Group 51R 410 CCA.

the a/c start up will flicker the lights no matter what kind of batt but all else is good with more amps. I took that toy batt out of mine and inserted a marine starting batt I had in the garage. This is a group24 945 CCA AGM, all other flicker gone. Added a stainless band tie down after this pic was taken. If you are looking for an Odyssey (much better than optima) get a PC1500 - it'll fit fine.
