I'm assuming he's referring to an Accord Hybrid. The engine should turn off when the car comes to a stop. Unfortunately I'm not familiar with the Hybrid's workings. Princess might be able to dig up something. :dunno: Fred?

Found the problem with the hybrid Accord--for the auto stop to work the defrost can not be on, with the hybrid---- when the A/C is on and the A/C compressor activated the serpintine belt drives the compressor, when you come to a stop as at a stop lite, the engine shuts off ---if you have the AC on the compressor stops also, however the compressor has an electric motor built into it that will keep circulating the freon at a reduced level to still help keep the passenger compartment cool, for some reason if the defrost mode is selected with out the AC engaged the autostop feature will not work, so in a nut shell all that was wrong was that the defrost mode had been selected when the wife was driving the Accord. Thanks to all that took the time to respond.

Wow. That's a weird little bit of electronic voodoo. Nice work figuring it out.
